Mo Kennel

State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.
My name is Darrick Henderson. Our kennel name is Mo Kennel. We are located in Kansas City, Missouri.

What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
Here at Mo Kennel, we breed the American Bully. I grew up around the Pit Bull my entire life. So dogs have been apart of me for as long as I can remember. I had no knowledge of the American Bully. In 2009, I saw my first American Bully and it instantly set a desire in me to own one.

In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?
A responsible dog breeder loves what they are doing, cares about the breed, and is patient with the process. Responsible breeders know how to relate to the breed.

What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
We keep our dogs on a kibble/raw diet 75/25. In the cold season we are at 60/40.

What is your favorite bloodline?
I cant say that I have a favorite. However, I really like Daxline, Louis V line, Venom, and Dallas just to name a few.

Do you currently show any of your dogs?
Currently we are not showing any dogs. I don’t feel like we have produced the right one just yet.

What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?
Stay true to your vision, have patience, trust the process, and believe in what you are trying to do.

What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
I think the most difficult thing to overcome is the stereotype that American bully breeders are irresponsible when it comes to the bully breed.

How do you think they can overcome this thing?
Take your time with breeding’s. Be patient, and make sure you are producing healthy bulls. Also, put the right dogs with each other when breeding.

Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
I look up to a few people in the dog game who mentored me when Mo Kennel started our journey. I would like to thank PJ over at Pac-line bullys, my younger cousin Eric over a Impact Bullies, and a few more. They are the people I communicate with, mostly with about dogs, and I trust they opinion.

Tell us about one of your main goals for the year 2019.
By the end of 2019, I would like to incorporate a new breed into our program.

Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.
If I had my way, the breed would be a lot more consistent. I would like to see more people having fun with their dogs. For example, more Bully BBQ’s and Meet & Greet’s would to bring awareness to the rest of the dog world.

What separates your kennel from the competition?
I don’t really look at it as competition. I just love having fun with the bulls, networking and meeting new people in the bully community. Our content speaks for itself. If you follow any of our social media outlets, you can get a clear picture of what we mean by fun!

What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?
