Who is 2nd2nunbullies?
State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.
My name is Danny Cervantes, founder of 2nd2nunbullies. You can find us in Jersey City, NJ.
What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
I breed XL and Standard American Bullys. I used to breed Pit Bulls back in the day. Honestly, I needed an escape from my everyday life, which was being a single father of 3 girls. I just needed something that I could enjoy, that would take my mind off of the everyday work around the household. The reason I breed XL’s and standards is because I like their size. I’m not really into the small dogs. I love the mass of the XL’s. They are scary looking dogs, but they are very nice dogs. Some of the XL’s and standards are bred with some crazy colors too.
What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
I feed my dogs Victor dog food. The Yukon brand has sweet potato and salmon, which the dogs love. I also add a little bit of Liquid Gold, and sometimes RAW. I like to mix it up.
What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?
The advice that I have for upcoming breeders is to keep it simple. Stay humble, and respect your vision. Don’t get caught up in other peoples vision. Stay true to yourself and what you believe in.
What do you think, is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
The most difficult thing for people to overcome in the bully game would be pride and ego. The bully game is always competitive. For me, it’s competitive on a friendly level, not in a malicous way to hurt other. The bully game is like a sport. If you have great sportsmanship and don’t disrespect anybody else, it’s great. However, some people don’t possess great sportsmanship. Not being able to control your actions towards others can really ruin you.
Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
There are a lot of people that I look up to in the bully game. For example, I look up to Tito, from Mercado Pet Supply. Tito is a very humble and hard working individual, who treats everyone with kindness. Also, I look up to Manmade Kennels, and my partner from Rip XXL Bullyz. They are both also very humble people, and never talk trash about anybody else. They keep it 100% about the breed.
Tell us about one of 2nd2nunbullies main goals going into the year 2018.
My goals for 2018 are to put He-Man in the show ring and champ him out. I would also like to try to better my program, and host more shows. Hopefully, I will be able to host another BBCR show before the end of the year.
Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.
Ten years from now I would like the bully community to be in a better place. I would like to see everyone getting along, more healthy dogs, more competition, and an overall more friendly environment. People should be able to feel comfortable coming out and showing their dogs, without everyone critiquing or talking down to each other.
What separates 2nd2nunbullies from the competition?
What separates 2nd2nunbullies from the competition is we are not here to compete. I do this for the love of the breed, and I love what I do. Like I said earlier, it’s an escape from the responsibilities in my everyday life.
What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
Outside of the dog life, I just enjoy spending time with my family, relaxing, and playing video games. I also have a newborn, so that keeps me pretty busy.
What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?
I appreciate everything Bully Girl Magazine does for the bully breed community, especially for kennels like myself. Bully Girl gives the exposure to show the world what we are all about. They have an overwhelming job, and I definitely appreciate everything that Bully Girl does.
