Tell our readers a little bit about yourself.
My name is Izabella Canuto, founder of MA Bullies. You can find us in Boston Massachusetts.
What type of dogs do you breed?
I breed American Bullies which includes the sizes micro, pocket and standard. I also breed French and English Bulldogs. My inspiration came from my first dog Bravo, I fell in love with his temperament as well as him.
In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?
Any dog breeder should always put the dog’s first, no matter what.
What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
I keep my dogs on a natural balanced diet, which consists of sweet potato and venison formula. We spare no expense for our most loved ones.
What is your favorite bloodline?
Old school Dax is the coolest bloodline in my opinion, even though it’s not the “new thing”. Dax’s tremendous ability to produce can not be questioned.
Do you currently show any of your dogs?
I don’t currently show any of my dogs. However, I am excited to show Daisy this upcoming year. Daisy is by far one of the most beautiful American Bullies I have ever had.
What advice does MA Bullies have for any upcoming breeders?
Breeding is one of the most fulfilling things there are. However, don’t be fooled, it’s not a competition. You have to have a passion for breeding. It’s not a game. It takes hours of commitment to successfully produce a quality dog. Do your homework.
What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
I think the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome is the competition amongst themselves. Breeders get so caught up in it. They begin to overlook the simple and most important details about breeding, such as the dogs health and well being.
How do you think they can overcome this thing?
Have a vision. Don’t worry about what others are doing. Focus on your goal, and on your dogs. People will not only see your progress, but they will feel it with the loving care you distribute in your commitment.
Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
I admire Cassandra Lee.Cassandra a successful breeder, who has created an empire. Diversity is a clear stepping stone for Cassandra, who seems to have it all.
Tell us about one of MA Bullies main goals for the year 2020.
It’ll be an exciting year for our kennel in 2020. We will be breeding our best American Bullies, Daisy and Buddha. They are favorites amongst our clients. Over time, we have been swayed to finally breed them together.
Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.
I would love to see more skilled breeders in the community. Not only breeders who are good at what they do, but breeders that help each other to create the best American Bully there is.
What separates MA Bullies from the competition?
Our kennel is our family. We give the upmost attention and care to every dog in our kennel. This is our life, our passion, and ultimately our livelihood.
What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
My hobby is travel. I love traveling to different places and going sightseeing. Occasionally, I’ll bring one of my dogs to enjoy it with them.
What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?
Bully Girl Magazine provides excellent exposure for American Bullies. It’s a great platform to unite breeders and establish a unique sense of excitement towards the radiant mommies who make these breeding’s happen. The opportunity has been nothing but exhilarating, and we hope everyone can come share our experience.
