State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.
My name is Marisa Postlethwait. My husband Charles and I own our kennel Alphabullypack located in beautiful Gates, Oregon.
What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
Here at Alphabullypack we breed American Bully XL style dogs. We are passionate about the breed, not only because of the amazing good looks, but also the tender souls that they possess. They are truly gentle giants.
In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?
There are many different responsible characteristics of a breeder. To just name a few, I would first have to say you need to be aware. You must be aware that what you are choosing to take on requires not only a lot of time and money, but a lot of your heart as well. Next, I would have to say that you need to be responsible. There are a lot of demands to breeding that you need to be ready and willing to take care of. Last, I would say that you need to be loving and compassionate. I know personally here at Alphabullypack, our dogs are first and foremost our family. They are a lot of hard work, but at the end of the day they are so worth it.
What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
At Alphabullypack, we feed our dogs Victor High Pro Plus.
Do you currently show any of your dogs?
We don’t show any of our dogs currently. Maybe one day in the future we might think about it.
What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?
If I could give any upcoming breeders any advice, I would have to say be ready for anything. A lot a of the time things don’t go as planned.
What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
I honestly think one of the hardest things that people need to overcome is trying to be something they are not. People need to realize that all dogs are different. Although they are from a certain bloodline, that doesn’t mean that they will be the next big thing.
How do you think they can overcome this thing?
Everyone needs to find what makes them different. Find the thing that sets them apart from everyone else and go with that.
Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
One of the kennels that I would have to say that I look up to is the Incredibullz . The way that Katie runs her kennel is so authentic, and you can see that in the way she treats all her dogs . One thing you can tell for sure is that she is not just in it for money. She loves her dogs, the breed, and what her dogs contribute to her life personally.
Tell us about one of your main goals for the year 2020.
One of my main goals for 2020 is going to be completing a couple of in-house breeding’s that we have been looking forward to.
Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.
Ten years from now, I would love to see a wide variety of known studs and dams. I would love to see less bashing of other kennels, and more praise. After all, we are in this big bully world family together. Ultimately, we want what is best for the breed and our productions.
What separates your kennel from the competition?
What sets us apart from other kennels is that it is truly not all about the money to us. When I say that our dogs are first and foremost our family, I mean that with my whole heart . Each and everyone of our dogs has been raised with our little sister from the start, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?
I personally love Bully Girl Magazine. I love that it gives women of the bully world a platform to tell their story. Also, I love how it showcases a side of the bully world that people don’t know about.
