State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.
My name is Justin Warner, founder of Anchor Made Bullies, located in Rhode Island.
What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
I am currently only breeding the American Bully. However, I also have interest In French Bulldogs and plan on venturing into that breed soon as well. My love for the American Bully came about when I was just a young boy playing with his Pit Bulls. I have always had a passion for the bull breed. As a child, I would imagine my own perfect bull, something I created myself!
In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?
Some characteristics I’d expect from a responsible breeder would first have to be a passion and love for all animals. If you love what you do and you take pride in it, everything else will fall in place! I personally expect a responsible breeder to be an honest person. They sghould be someone with the best intention, and be willing to learn as much as they are willing to teach. A responsible breeder will always put the health and happiness of these animals first.
What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
I personally keep my stock on Orijen kibble, with a mix of vegetables and multivitamins.
What is your favorite bloodline?
My favorite bloodline would have to be Daxline. Since I first laid eyes on him, I fell in love! I also admire many of the newer lines based off DAX, such as: Louis V Line, Lucky Line, and soon to be Rocko Line.
Does Anchor Made Bullies currently show any dogs?
Unfortunately, due to my work and home schedules, I do not make it out to many shows. However, in 2019 I plan on changing that around and bringing “Havoc” out to many more show events.
What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?
Best advice I would give to any upcoming breeder would have to be, Be Ready! Be ready for all the lost wages, sleepless nights, lost friends, random hate, and countless setbacks. Learn as much as you can, save your money, and start with quality foundation.
What do you think, is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
I’d say lack of confidence! Many of us all start off thinking we’re ready for the Bully Game, only to find out the hard way that it’s not just all about making a nice dog and showing them off. Unfortunately, people in this community have a tendency of tearing each other down. So if you dont know your worth, and keep your head up, you can easily get consumed.
How do you think they can overcome this thing?
The only way to overcome lack of confidence is to know what your aiming for. Keep it ethical, keep it quality, and keep it real with yourself!
Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
I can’t say I look up to just one person. There are many people I look to as inspiration such as Ed Shepherd, George Aguilar, Ash Airoso, Khanh Nguyen, Alex Ferraro, Ron Ramos, Bashar Daoud, and many more. I believe they all show great leadership, and have consistently produced some of the best bulls to hit the scene since I’ve entered the bully community.
Tell us about one of Anchor Made Bullies main goals for the year 2018.
This year has been a year of building, laying down some of my next generation productions and watching how my last are producing. With this year coming to an end, I look foward to jumping into 2019 with a few hitter productions that are sure to make some noise.
Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.
In a perfect world, ten years from now the bully community would be a little more united, with more great people and a lot more shows on the east coastl.
What separates Anchor Made Bullies from the competition?
Honestly, I feel as though I have no competition! Its me and my boy. I just want the world to see him. I believe that’s an opinion that I’d like to leave to the judges and people of the community.
What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
Fishing! I love fishing. Nothing’s better than taking the family out to the water, relaxing, and catching some fish!
What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?
I think you all are great! Bully Girl is great for the people, great for the shows, and just great for the community as a whole. I wish nothing but love and prosperity for you guys. Thank you again!
