State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.
My name is Francisco Plascencia, founder of BEBLA Kennels (Blue English Bulldogs Los Angeles). You can find us in Los Angeles, CA -South Bay.
What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
I breed triple carrier English bulldogs. Growing up, my child hood buddy was Jesse Silva, of Socal bullies. Jesse has always bred Pit Bulls with his family since 1995. He taught me about the different Cali blood lines like Butthead, Greyline, and Genghis Khan. The first pit bulls he got into were Bluenose, out of Butthead and Greyline. Then he purchased a Gottiline female.
Now he owns Micro bullies, with a long list of heavy hitters from Mr miagi, Bullseye, Roach, Dax, Phenom, Vin Skully, and Rameses blood. I never really thought about owning my own dogs until I came around the English Bulldog. My wife Gabrielle Franco and I met in 2006. When I came to her house for the first time, she had a Spider Monkey and an English Bulldog. Gabrielle’s love of pets got me more involved with animals. I started growing closer to her and her English bulldog, Camilla. I knew I wanted to own one someday.
In 2010, we got our first puppy, Maximo, and thats how we got started. Her father, Juan Franco, showed us the way of being professional and responsible English bulldog breeders.
In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?
In my opinion, a responsible breeder has to have an overall love and respect for the bully breed. Responsible breeders should always be studying up on the breed every day. Know your facts and standards on the breed before you create. Also, keep a strict schedule diet for your dogs.
What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
I feed my dogs Star Pro+ Premium dry kibble, mixed with Purina Dog Chow beef barf, goat milk powder, and much more.
What is your favorite bloodline?
My favorite bloodline for the bully breed is currently Razors Edge.
Does BEBLA Kennels currently show any dogs?
At the moment I have just been attending shows, not to compete, but to study shows and learn about the bully community. Its amazing, and I would never disrespect the ring with anything less then the best at any registry. So for now, no I have not. However, I will be attending my first show to compete on April 20th, 2019 in Sacramento, CA for the IBR show.
What advice does BEBLA Kennels have for any upcoming breeders?
Come into this community with respect for the breed and others. Stay humble and learn from the best. Also, be responsible when breeding. Only start when you have the knowledge and experience from working with other breeders. Lastly, only start if you can dedicate yourself to this 24/7.
What do you think, is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
I think the most difficult thing to overcome in the bully game is the stereotypes from people that don’t understand the breeds. The types of dogs we love and grew up with, are misunderstood by other animal lovers.
How do you think they can overcome this thing?
The way I think this will be overcome, is by standing out in the community in a positive way. We have to represent the breeds in a positive light. That goes for all of the bully breeds: English Bulldogs, Frenchies, etc. Show up to community events and register your dogs. Be a responsible dog owner.
Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
I really look up to everyone who pioneered the movement and took it where it is now. I respect kennels that help other kennels grow and learn. This is what will bring the breed forward, not just viewing other kennels and new comers as competition.
Tell us about one of BEBLA Kennels main goals for the year 2019.
BEBLA Kennels main goal for 2019 is to meet more breeders. Also, I would like to learn as much as I can from others in the community. Lastly, I would like to start attending more shows and getting my team ready to compete this year.
Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.
What I want to see is BIGGER! Bigger shows, a bigger community, and bigger fans of the bully world. Maybe even a bully breed super bowl. It would be cool to see a worldwide competition, with all registries, and all country’s.
What separates your kennel from the competition?
What separates us from the rest is that we specialize in the blue color with full coats, and we are going to perfect the Blue Triple carrier gene. The goal is to produce exotic blue color English Bulldogs with structure and quality. Also, we have a very high level of love and respect for the breed.
What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
Some of my hobbies include: traveling with my family, spending time learning our culture, teaching my daughter about animals and art, dedication, and to express herself in this world.
What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?
I think it’s great what Bully Girl does for the bully community and the kennels it consists of. Bully Girl Magazine shows the world that these amazing breeds do exist, and that there is a community of dog lovers that genuinely care about this breed.
