Who is is Blue Dream Bullies?
Tell our readers a little bit about yourself and your kennel.
We are Blue Dream Bullies. You can find us in central Florida, between Tampa and Orlando.
What type of dogs do you breed? Also, what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
We breed American Bullies. First we started with the Standard Pitbull, then migrated to Pockets, and we are slowly getting into exotics. We love all the breeds. The inspiration comes from the love of the breed in its entirety, but we love the way they look. We love the muscle and just the massive personality in a short compact body.
What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
Our dogs get a kibble that has a 30/20 mix, along with a raw diet that includes hamburger meat, rice, and my wife makes all the dogs home-made dog treats. The treats are made from pumpkin peanut butter and sweet potatoes.
What is your favorite bloodline?
Miagi has to be my favorite while my wife’s favorite is for sure Daxline. Our male’s bloodline is Daxline.
Do you currently show, any of your dogs?
Yes, Roxy is our current dog we show. Our 4 year old daughter shows her in the Junior Handlers class. We have two retired dogs PRADA and PROMETHAZINE, and they each have a couple of Purple Ribbons hanging. It’s really not about the ribbons. For us it’s about getting your dog out there for people to see, and for our daughter to learn about the breed. It’s just an all-around good time for her to have with her dog.
What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?
Everything takes money and patience. You need to have a lot of patience. Everything is not going to happen overnight. If you have questions ask. Do the research. Reach out to the veteran breeders for the answers. Don’t be afraid to take a chance.
What do you think, is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
The stereotypes that the people who are uneducated give these dogs simply because of the way the dog looks, and the breeds name. If people would just educate themselves about the breed, and be more open-minded, they would see that these dogs are some of the most loving and loyal animals out there. Open your mind. Come out to a show see how friendly Pit’s and Bully’s can be. At our kennel we are advocates for the breed, and we always offer to educate people. We take our dog out to local events to show people how easy going, and what big babies these dogs actually are.
How do you think they can overcome this thing?
The Pitbull and Bully community really needs to come together and do an educational event in order to educate closed-minded and uneducated people. We need to come together and be advocated for this breed to overcome the negative media and stereotypes, that these dogs carry for no reason at all.
Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
Thats a tough question. We look up to so many. One that stands out is Kevin, who put me into the game. He gave me my first dog and has answered my questions as a friend. I also have to shout out my wife who supports me 100%. As a family we stand strong for our kennel and for these dogs. If it wasn’t for Julie and Kevin, for sure there wouldn’t be a Blue Dream Bullies.
Tell us about one of Blue Dream Bullies most memorable moments, in 2016 so far.
For sure getting this chance to get our name out there with the help of Bully Girl Mag. Also, our daughter getting the chance to be in the magazine. This was a big step up for us. Bully Girl Magazine is well respected inside the Bully community.
Describe how you would want things, in the bully Community, to be 10 years from now.
I would like to see the bully community be more of a family, with less hating on other kennels, and less hanging-papers. I hear about a lot of people doing this, which is embarrassing for the community. My kennel is about the love of the breed, and the dogs, not all about the money. Hopefully the reputation of the bully breed is a lot better in 10 years, and people are more educated. American Bully’s and Pitbull’s have to be some of the best family pets you can have. I strive hard myself, along with my family and kennel partners, to educate and promote the breed to shine bright in the light with a positive outlook.
What separates Blue Dream Bullies from the competition?
Blue Dream Bullies is a family run kennel. We consist of 2 best friends, 2 wives, 10 kids, and a bunch of dogs. That is what separates us. It’s all about family, friendship, and the love of the dogs. We love our dogs. Our family’s love our dogs, and we hope to be big, so that the community loves our dogs.
What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
We also have our own clothing line and home accessory line, called Loyal Bully. It’s all about the love for the breed, and being an advocate for these animals.
What motto do you live by?
I own a Pitbull and Bully. It’s a Lifestyle. Blue Dream Bullies is on a mission to fight bad stereotypes. We are advocates. We stand up for the breed, and it’s a privilege.
What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?
For sure one the most influential magazines in the Dog and Bully community. We are super excited to be involved with Bully Girl Magazine. As a lover of these breeds, we thank you for also being an advocate for American Bully’s and Pitbull’s. Keep up the amazing work.
