Hi, my name is Alandise Harris, founder of Burrnationk9s. You can find us in Little Rock Arkansas.
What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
We breed XL American Bullies and XL American Pit Bull Terriers. We were actually breeding Siberian Huskies, formerly known as “Burrnation Huskies”. I was inspired by DarkDynastyK9’s Hulk. When I first saw that dog, I was like WOW! Not only did I want a dog like that, but I wanted to run Burrnationk9s the same way.
What is your favorite bloodline?
I’d say my favorite bloodline is Burrnationk9s. However, I’m in love with BossyKennels, Ellisblood, TopDogBullies, MVPBullies, XXLDesignerpitbulls and ULP Juggernaut Blood.
In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?
I respect breeders that give top quality care for the situation that they are in. Not everyone has the same funds to provide the same level of care, but do the best you absolutely can. Choose the right health practices, tell no lies, and don’t make unrealistic promises.
What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
We feed our dogs wholesome grain free kibble, with raw chicken leg quarters, ground beef and Muscle Bully Supplements.
How many times a day do you feed your dogs?
We feed our dogs twice a day. Anything over that, you will waste food.
How do you keep your dogs in shape throughout the year?
We work our dogs with activities like: bite work, frisbees, playing fetch with tennis balls and doing combinations with obedience and open play with the other dogs. We also do very long walks.
Walk us through the process of purchasing a pup from your kennel from start to finish.
First you would contact Burrnationk9s and let us know which pup you are interested in. We then do a small background check, to see if you are eligible to have a pup from us. This will also give us an idea if you are able to afford and care for this new pup. If the background check is good, we then move forward to the deposit. Lastly, once the pups are 8 weeks of age we will then ship or allow pick up of your new pup, provided the balance has been paid in full.
Do you currently show any of your dogs?
No, however that is something we would love to get into, and we plan to do so in the future.
What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?
Please do a lot of research. Follow your mind before purchasing these pups. Get what you want the first time. If you don’t, you will always be chasing it, once you pass it up. Lastly, take your time and be patient.
What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
Understanding that this isn’t a get rich quick scheme. Yes, there is money in it. However, to be top notch like Burrnationk9s and other programs, you will have to put out a lot of money as well.
How do you think they can overcome this thing?
The only way is time, patience and money.
Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
Honestly, no one. If I had questions about anything, I have always been able to get honest and direct answers from Ginna at XXLDesignerPitBulls and Jack at EllisBloodline. Ginna and Jack are both awesome. When I first got started, it was XXLDesignerPitBulls, DarkDynastyK9s, EllisBloodlline, and BossyKennels.
Tell us about one of Burrnationk9s main goals for the year 2020.
Our main goals are to upgrade the lifestyle of our dogs, by providing them with better facilities, kennels, and play areas. Also, to breed the most healthy and correct dogs we can.
Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.
I would love to see honesty, friendliness, no hate and a lot of congratulations.
What separates Burrnationk9s from the competition?
We have all the best bloodlines, as well as our own look and ideals on things. We don’t let people change our plans. Only top quality care is provided to our dogs, and we work with people when it comes to pricing. Every dog isn’t five figures.
What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
I am a professional basketball player overseas, for the past 5 years, which fuels the growth of my program. I also put time into custom cars; new school, old school and classics.
