Who is Double A Bullies?
State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.
We are Aldo and Adelle Perez, founders of Double A Bullies. You can find us in Stockbridge Georgia.
What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
Double A Bullies currently breeds pocket and standard sized American Bullies.
Aldo: I had a APBT breeding program back in the mid 1990’s, working with York bloodlines that I had to step away from. Seeing the size and structure of the American Bully, it was exactly what my vision was with the APBT’s I was breeding.
Adelle: I also had a Great Dane breeding program in early 2010. We currently have a small Yorkshire Terrier Breeding program as well. Therefore, we are no strangers to all sizes of working dogs.
In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?
In our opinion, a responsible dog breeder is one who does their homework and research when planning a breeding, and breeds to the standards. Responsible breeders spare no expense when it comes to the health and safety of the animals involved. They know exactly what characteristics, looks, or traits they are looking to accomplish when planning their breeding. Anyone can put two dogs together. Not everyone does their research, and plans the breeding as they should.
What type of diet does Double A Bullies keep it’s dogs on throughout the year?
We feed all of our dogs a All Life Stage Grain Free Kibble, supplemented with vitamins, oils, and raw treats. We’ve found that simple goes a long way when you have dogs with excellent genotype and phenotype.
What is your favorite bloodline?
I think we both agree that we really do not have a favorite bloodline. We more so appreciate certain traits that we would like to incorporate into our program. There are a lot of pedigree and color chasers in the bully game today. That’s something we do not do in our program.
Do you currently show, any of your dogs?
Yes, we are currently campaigning two dogs. Double A’s Jipsey Hustle (CDK GrCh El Toro X CJBK Georgia). Second, is a production of ours. His name is Mr. Bigz, and he is currently 9 months old. Mr. Bigz is off of Westbrook Bullies Champion Stache (Ch Lucky Luciano x Ch Piper Rose) X Double A’s Jipsey Hustle.
What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?
Research, Research, Research! Make sure you have the resources to invest in real foundation dogs. These dogs should have the genotype that is in-line with the breed standards, as well as the phenotype you would like to use and improve in your program.
What do you think, is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
This is a tough question, but we feel like the bully game is becoming oversaturated with low quality dogs. Some people are moving in the wrong direction with the breed. A lot of breeders are moving backwards instead of forward with the stock they choose.
How do you think they can overcome this thing?
It can’t be overcome. There is and always will be a market for entry level and expert level stocks, as it is with many other products. You get what you pay for.
Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
We have been very lucky to have met some great individuals with great programs and visions that have supported us from the inception of our program. We can’t name just one so I’ll name a couple.
First, is Cristina and John Foster of CJBK that produced our foundation female, and also helped us meet some great people in the bully community. Second is Ivan Condor and his wife Ana Deleon of CDK. We hosted Ivan, Ana, and GrCh El Toro for a show in 2017, and quickly learned Ivan and Ana are like encyclopedias when it comes to breeding, marketing, and architecting their program. They were not shy when it came to sharing tips and advice on how to make a push for the top.
Lastly, Nicky Westbrook of Westbrook Bullies. Nicky has been a great friend, mentor, and supporter of our program. He also has been instrumental in advising during the campaigning of our dogs in the show ring. We have plans to work together in future breedings as well.
Tell us about one of your main goals for the year 2019.
The main goal we have for 2019 is to title the dogs we are campaigning, and hopefully get pointed towards a grand champion title. Another goal of Double A Bullies is to be able to say we produced, trained, and handled a titled dog. That would be huge for us.
Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.
United. Unfortunately, there is so much politics and hate in the game today, and it’s disheartening.
What separates Double A Bullies from the competition?
We wouldn’t say anything separates us from the competition. However, we can say that our vision is one that will take generations to reach, and we are fully prepared for the long haul. We’ve had 3 litters in the past 2 years, and only 2 dogs have left our yard. This is because we truly planned those litters for ourselves, and they will play a big role in the future of our program.
What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
We love to travel, and enjoy raising 2 teenage boys. We also enjoy weekend DIY projects. Right now we are actively involved in a family run Non-Profit organization called Bright Future for Kids. This organization focuses on youth enrichment and development through one-on-one tutorial and advanced teaching methods.
What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?
Bully Girl Magazine is great for the community. Reaching a broad audience and spotlighting up and coming kennels, gives exposure to programs throughout the country. Because of the work Bully Girl does, individuals may find that gem they have been searching for to take their program to the next level.
