State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.
My name is Derrick Sud, founder of Heaven Sent Bullies. You can find us in Deltona, Florida.
What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
We breed American Bullies. As a kid, I grew up around and also owned pit bulls. I just love the American bully breed. Their temperament is second to none, which is really a huge plus when dealing with big dogs.
What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
We feed a high protein diet for large breeds brand, called Exclusive PMI. It provides them with all the nutrients they need, and contains no by-product meals. By-products aren’t really healthy for the dogs.
What is your favorite bloodline?
That’s a tough question. I personally couldn’t say I have a specific favorite bloodline, considering all of my favorite dogs are a mix of certain bloodlines. However, if I had to pick, I would have to say it would be between Greyline and Mugglestone dogs.
Do you currently show, any of your dogs?
No, not at the moment. However, we are definitely working on it!
What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?
I would say to stay true to your vision. Worry about what you want/need for your kennel. Always make sure all of your dogs are in great shape and health. Disregard the negativity that you may come across while building your brand. Stay focused and never give up. It’s definitely not easy, but dedication is everything! Also, do a lot of studying before jumping into anything.
What do you think, is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
Remaining focused, not getting discouraged, and again disregarding the negativity. It is hard for people to accept constructive criticism, remain true to the reason you are breeding, and not follow fads.
How do you think they can overcome this thing?
Always believe in your vision. Remember why you started. Ignore the haters, and don’t take criticism in a bad way. Use it to your advantage, and figure out how you can fix things. Keep your eyes on your own paper. Meaning don’t do something because someone else is doing it. Be unique, while staying true to the breed and standards.
Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
I personally wouldn’t say I look up to anyone. There are two kennels that I have to say that I appreciate their work, and what they stand for. Those two kennels would be MVP BULLIES and BLUEBERRY KENNELS. This is because of I admire how they handle their business. They put in a lot of hard work and dedication to provide and take great care of their dogs. They make sure they keep their dogs healthy, as well as breed with a purpose.
Tell us about one of Heaven Sent Bullies main goals going into the year 2018.
Most of my dogs are young at the moment, so one of my main goals, is just making sure they are all in great shape and health. Some of our dogs will also be going for different kinds of training as well. Our overall goal would be just providing them with the best of the best, and getting them ready for the show ring.
Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.
Ten years from now, I personally would just want to see more unity. Secondly, more people staying true to their vision instead of following trends. I also would like to see less breeding of poor quality dogs.
What separates Heaven Sent Bullies from the competition?
In the simplest terms, I would have to just say the quality of our dogs, and the great care they get. With us, what you see if what you’ll get. We’re not here to mislead or misinform anyone. We would rather be straight up and honest about everything with anyone we cross paths with.
What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
It’s funny. This question really makes me laugh because I spend so much time with my dogs. I had to pause and think about other things that I like doing, LOL. If I had to mention one thing, I would say playing cards. Maybe poker or blackjack at local casinos.
What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?
I would honestly have to say I love Bully Girl Magazine, and it’s great content. Bully Girl Magazine is great for people who are new to the breed, as well as others who are not so new to the breed. It’s a very informative publication, I must say. I also find it to be helpful for up and coming breeders to kind of have an idea of what it really takes to be a top quality breeder.
