State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.
My name is Bobo, founder of Imperial Monster Bullies, IMB for short. We are located on the south side of Chicago, IL.
What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
I breed Pocket American Bullies. I’ve always been in to APBT’s, until one day I saw a neighbor with a short, wide dog that resembled a Pit but wider. The dog had a broad blocky head with mass and bone. I asked him about it and he pointed me in the right direction. With a little research, I purchased my first bully female from DTB Kennel’s, located in Pontiac, Michigan.
In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?
In my opinion, a responsible dog breeder should first and foremost make sure they’re breeding for health, structure and temperament. Also, they should make sure their stock is going into a damn near a perfect situation, by doing homework on the individual who’s receiving the dog.
What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
My dog’s diet is high quality kibble, with RAW 3 times a week, supplemented with vitamins.
What is your favorite bloodline?
In my opinion, there really aren’t too many actual bloodlines. I started with “Edge” dogs, but I’ve incorporated some “DAX” blood into my program! There are a lot of glorified kennels or dogs, but not too many have a line! Just my opinion.
Does Imperial Monster Bullies currently show any dogs?
I have shown a few dogs. However, I’m not really big on the time and commitment it takes to campaign a dog. I like the creation aspect of it. But as time permits, I will start showing more.
What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?
The best advice I can give to an upcoming breeder is to find something you like. Then study it from front to back, find the pros and cons, ask lots of questions and have tough enough skin to take the negative comments. Don’t chase fads, stay solid, and strive to make your own way.
What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
I think the most difficult thing for us in the bully community to overcome is social media. It’s a gift and a curse! You can touch so many with the click of a button, and it has made everyone lazy!
How do you think they can overcome this thing?
I feel it’s too far gone to overcome! Now it’s about adapting to make it better.
Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
All of the OG’s who played their part, get nothing but the utmost love and respect. However, hands down Kevin “BigKev” Benford from MidWest Monstaz (Tha Lounge), is at the top of my list! He did it his way, and is still kicking ass with bad ass dogs today.
Tell us about one of Imperial Monster Bullies main goals for the year 2020.
For 2020 I’m working on my 5th Generation in my program. I’ve got some new stock to incorporate, and some things I want to add.
Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.
I would love for things to get back to the fun aspect. With the fun comes love and fellowship. If we want to take this breed to the next level, we need to be working towards that in the decade to come.
What separates Imperial Monster Bullies from the competition?
Honestly, I only compete with my last breeding. I’m always trying to outdo myself. However, if I had to say one thing that separates me from the next, it would be consistency. I pride myself on chasing that. I’m actively breeding to create my bloodline. That’s something you just don’t see to often now.
What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
My other hobbies include my bully brand “YARDMONSTAZ”. I will be making a strong push for that this year and just enjoying life.
What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?
I think Bully Girl Mag is a great outlet for the Bully breeds! I’m glad that Bully Girl is keeping the old school vibe for the community, by showcasing and putting the spotlight on awesome bulls! I’m very humbled by this opportunity to be apart of it as well.
