Tell our readers a little about Jaw Dropping Bullies.
Our names are King & Ashley Yates of Jaw Dropping Bullies. You can find us in Splendora, Texas.
What type of dogs do you breed? What inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
We breed UKC registered XL American Bullies. I’ve always been in love with big dogs. It has always been my opinion that XL bullies were very smart and loyal, which makes the prefect addition to any family.
What type of diet does Jaw Dropping Bullies keep it’s dogs on throughout the year?
We feed Victor Grain Free Puppy Food to our puppies, and Victor Grain Free Yukon River Canine (salmon with sweat peas) to our adults.
What is your favorite bloodline?
Our bloodline of choice is Probulls. This is because of the large bone structure and body mass this bloodline produces on a consistent basis.
Do you currently show, any of your dogs?
We haven’t showed our bitch Pistol Pink due to her previous pregnancy. However, we look forward to showing her, as well as her son JDB Shark Tooth, at the Cinco show in Conroe, TX in May of 2019.
What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?
The only advice we have for upcoming breeders is to do your own research on bloodlines. Strive to be different from the next kennel. Once you’ve established what it is you want to produce, give it your all and don’t get discouraged. Ignore any negativity that is thrown your way about breeding this line of dog.
What do you think, is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
One of the most difficult things to overcome is the stereotype of being a Pit Bull / Bully breeder. The thought that we are producing these “terrible and vicious” dogs.
How do you think they can overcome this thing?
By producing dogs and showcasing them to the public eyes as loving, caring, and loyal animals. Socialize your dogs with small kids and the elderly. Take photos of your bulls with law enforcement and get testimonials of how gentle these animals really are. Bring your dog out in public to pet friendly establishments like Home Depot, Tracker Supply, and Walmart.
Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
I look up to Catherine Cowman of Ocean State Kennels, located in Providence, Rhode Island. Catherine is always giving us the best advice and is very welcoming to any questions we may have.
Tell us about one of Jaw Dropping Bullies main goals for the year 2018.
Honestly, our goals for 2018 have already been reached. We planned early in the year to produce an arguably amazing litter. On May 8, 2018 we produced 12 beautiful pups. We re-homed the entire litter to homes with loving kids. One pup actually went to a real good friend of ours, whose son we consider a hero due to him going through the number of surgeries he has.
Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.p
First and foremost, we would love to see the pitbull / American bully removed from the BSL. We would also like to see them looked at on the same respected level as all other dogs that are not on this list.
What separates Jaw Dropping Bullies from the competition?
Our entire home has a role with Jaw Dropping Bullies. Starting from the selection of studs, to the actual breeding and welping process. We are also very involved in the screening of the homes where our pups will be rehomed to. As well as handling the dirty work of kennel duties. Everyone plays an important role.
What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
Other than raising dogs, we enjoy spending quality time together as a family. We love fishing, painting, and taking family trips. We love making lots of memories.
What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?
You guys are amazing. My wife and I were thrilled when we got the message to be featured in Bully Girl Magazine! I like that you all place a pedestal for kennels of different style bullies to showcase.
