Kombat Kennels: Pocket, Standard and XL Bully Breeder in Tennessee

Kombat Kennels

State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.
My name is Louis Spencer IV, of Kombat Kennels. You can find us in Nashville, TN.

What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
We breed pocket, standard and XL American Bullies. My fiancé had a crazy dog once before, who was territorial and aggressive. After the passing of our late “Samsters” (maltese), we wanted to help complete our family again with a dog. However, this dog need to have excellent temperament and be able to interact with everyone without aggression.

What is your favorite bloodline?
Wow, such a trick question! So our kennels #1 & #2 alphas are out of GullySide Kennels. What stuck out to us about this kennel was the extreme focus on temperament. Our previous dogs showed much aggression and were difficult to have around our children and guests.

We were once those same people who had a stigma about “Pit Bulls” and Bullies being the same breed years ago. Gullyside helped us see how the breed has a standard and was a legit must for our household. We prefer the Gotti bloodline look.

In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?
We suggest studying the ins and outs of the breeding process. Also, becoming an intern for a highly reputable kennel is the best way to have initial experience, before getting into the breeding business.

In our opinion a responsible dog breeder will not only care about the breed, but have a care for the species in general. We have a long background with multiple dog breeds. A lot of experience with canines, and being aware of their overall health traits, is highly important when you are attempting to bring more puppies into the world.

What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
Kombat Kennels dogs are raised on a BARF diet. The majority influence on the diet came from the amazing Ch. Sincere aka Fatboy Blue. Also, a friend of ours is a retired veterinarian, and used a BARF diet as a relief for her sick animals. She saw drastic changes and helped them live out healthier lives. We suggest using a raw vendor if you do not understand proper portioning.

How many times a day do you feed your dogs?
Our pups eat 3 times a day with no free feeding. Our adults eat twice a day with free feeding.

How do you keep your dogs in shape throughout the year?
Our kennel takes pride in having the time, space and patience to keep our yard in tip top shape. We have designated days for cardio, strength & IQ training, which is a must! Cardio can include sprints and long walks.

When the weather is not so great we have an indoor treadmill for such activity. Strength training seems to be a favorite for the yard. This includes spring pole training, flirt pole work, weighted runs, weight pulling and more. IQ training is our pride and joy. We typically can have our pups at 40+ commands before the one year mark, and that’s our consistent goal.

Walk us through the process of purchasing a pup from Kombat Kennels from start to finish.
This is a great question topic! Throughout our experience we have seen sellers make the buying experience a bust, or not worthwhile. Within our program we welcome all inquiries regardless of an individual’s seriousness. We want every buyer to understand that Kombat Kennels is a place they will forever have a home in. Our process is easy:

  • Contact by any method: email, dm, text, call.
  • We will send you our upcoming available breedings, packages and rates. We will also discuss payment plans.
  • We send informational literature for first time dog/bully owners.
  • Once the customer is ready for purchase, we do a quick home assessment.
  • We will either drive or personally fly the pup to the new family.
  • A customer receives registration paperwork, and a pup update photo is requested every 3 months until 1 year of age, to ensure proper care.

Do you currently show any of your dogs?
The goal is to have a few of our keepers, to participate in shows or competitions that fit their skill set. Considering their bloodline has participated in shows, such as their grandfather Bossy’s CH. Raiden, it’s only right to continue the legacy. They are fast learners, so getting a couple of those champion titles should come easy. Stay tuned.

What advice does Kombat Kennels have for any upcoming breeders?
We are new to conducting our own breedings 100%, but veterans in canine knowledge. What we have learned over time, is that it takes a lot of time, patience, knowledge, and investment. The great part about breeding in the bully community is there is a lot of support and love.

For us we have always been able to reach out to big name kennels such as MMK (ManMadeKennels), Gullyside, Mantime Kennels and Mystylez for support in any situation.

Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
Nice one! This has to be the best question, because they inspire us in so many ways. As the owner, (Louis IV) I chose my parents and future wife to share my success with. MMK helped us with our point of view on “what success looks like”.

We base our kennel with the evolution of a shared family experience. We challenge ourselves differently each day as a family, to learn something or try something new with our kennel. That keeps us going with motivation.

Tell us about one of Kombat Kennels main goals for the year 2021.
Training training training! Between the XL Bullies and pockets, we sometimes have our work cut out for us. Our focus in the media, is to show how easy it is to have well trained bullies. It’s amazing to see the difference between blood and temperament.

Our goal is to have each of the classes follow suit of the bloodline. We also plan to have our next keeper female showcased before the year is over!

Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.
The biggest thing for the bully community, is the slight separation and stigma that revolves around people’s lack of knowledge about their temperament. Their size and build typically scares most people who know nothing about them. It kind of makes us laugh, because our lap dogs are vicious warriors and our bullies are gentle giants.

What separates Kombat Kennels from the competition?
We make custom crates as a staple for our kennel. There is not a single kennel we have run across that tailor makes crates, suitable for someone’s interior design, and sells to the public at half the cost of manufacturers. My fiance is amazing with the woman’s touch, and I do the dirty work, to make the masterpieces we call PupCave™️.

What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
We are the creators of PupCave™️ Custom Crate & Kennel. PupCave™️ are custom built, spacious and handcrafted with unique design. Adding safety and cosmetic appeal to living spaces, we construct typical furniture into amazing living spaces for pets. We also take pride in our dance and fitness studio, called Boombox Dance Center, in Lavergne,TN.

What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?
Hands down, Bully Girl Magazine is a staple in the bully community. Bully Girl is the perfect outlet for anyone who wants advice about bullies, or who wants to find a safe haven for knowledge on the breed. Bully Girl Magazine has an amazing approach to keeping the bully community alive and reputable. Thanks for everything you do!
