State your name, and where your kennel is located.
My name is Amanda Reed. Our kennel name is LUCKY 7 KENNELS, which is ran by myself and my wife Ta’Eisha Reed. You can find us in Ramseur North Carolina. We are currently working on adding a section to the camp called Toy Bully Campline.
What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
I started out breeding American Pitbull Terriers. Back in 2000 I was currently working with a good friend of mine, named Crystal Barker. During this time we both were talking about our dogs, and she showed me a picture of one of hers. This was the first time I saw an American Bully.
I fell in love instantly with the look and strong body structure. About a month later I went to a dog show with her and her husband. This is where I purchased my first American Bully. We currently breed American Bully’s at Lucky 7 Kennels. The next step will be moving forward with Toy Bully Campline to bring in some exotics.
What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
Currently, all of my dogs are on Purina Pro Plan Salmon and Rice 30/20, as well as assorted vitamins. This is to help assure them the best health. Throughout the year, we occasionally give some raw as well mixed with the dry kibble.
What is your favorite bloodline?
I am a huge Daxline fan. Currently everything in my yard originates from Daxline. Recently I have become a fan of Hazeline as well. Both bloodlines carry and throw a very consistent look when bred correctly.
Do you currently show, any of your dogs?
At this time we are not showing any of our dogs. We have in the past, and plan to in the future.
What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?
There is so much advice to be given to upcoming breeders, but I will keep it simple. Follow your vision. Research and study what will help you reach your goal. Don’t be a know it all, because everybody can always learn something new. Stay positive even when it gets tough. Never let someone else’s opinion discourage you. A lot of people won’t like you, but many will. Never forget the love you have for the breed and why you started!
What do you think, is the most difficult thing for people in the bullygame to overcome?
Negativity and hate are difficult to overcome. These are two of the most common things that you see daily in the bully game.
How do you think they can overcome this thing?
Just be strong and mindful of those around you. Don’t let others discourage you. Stay focused and keep working towards your vision.
Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
There isn’t just one person that I look up to in the bully game. Several people definitely helped me, and occasionally still do. Each I look to for different reasons.
Tell us about one of your most memorable moments, in 2017 so far.
Lucky 7 Kennels most memorable moment this far, would have to be when I purchased a littermate male to my female Anxious. Bando was purchased from Tommy Ayers at GCB’S, who also had produced him. The past few months have been very busy with breedings. Right now I am looking forward to the in house breedings we have lined up with him this year!
Describe how you would want things, in the bully Community, to be 10 years from now.
In 10 years I would love to see the bully community to come more together. There needs to be less division and more support of others. Hopefully, helping to minimize the negativity and hate that seems to come with success.
What separates your kennel from the competition?
We don’t compete! Bashing another mans work is not why we are here. We like to focus on what we are trying to achieve. You won’t ever see us bring another man down, only encourage them. Lucky 7 Kennels supports others and always does honest business.
What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
Besides breeding and working, the only thing that I truly love giving time to is my wife and our kids.
What motto do you live by?
At times our ego can get the best of us. So i always say “Be humble even on your most successful days!”
What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?
I love Bully Girl Magazine. Bully Girl was the first magazine that I saw, showing representation of the American Bully. The promotion that they give to breeders and bully breed dogs is remarkable.
