State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.
I want to commence by saying, I Hope all is well with everyone. My name is Isaac Aguilera & my wife is Rosamaria Aguilera. We are MCSC Bullyz. We are located in the Salad Bowl of the world, Soledad,CA.
What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
At this time, I breed Top Pedigree American Standard and Pocket Bullies. My inspiration came from a puppy I owned at 19 years old. His name was Tito, he had the structure, size, strength, muscle, loving and intimidating look I admired.
It was 2009, and at that time I did not know the difference between a pitbull and an actual American Bully. There was not as much knowledge as there is now, nor social media exposure. Unfortunately, my dog was stolen, and for years I did my research on these breeds.
In 2016, I finally found what I was looking for in the breed. I was at my aunt’s house and I walked across the street to the park. I saw a man walking a dog, approached him and complimented his dog. He said to me “You like these dogs? Do you want to see the others?” When I met Dakota, I was ecstatic to see her. She has the characteristics and temperament I was looking for. My inspiration began with Dakota Blu.
What is your favorite bloodline?
I’m an old school guy, so I would say my favorite bloodline is gottiline. I grew up with locals having these bloodlines in their kennel. They fascinate me.
In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?
I believe that a responsible dog breeder needs to be loving and able to pay attention to detail. It requires a lot of interaction with them since they speak to you in body language. You form a bond, unity, and mutual respect with them. You have to keep in mind the regulations of the breeding as well.
What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
I have my dogs on dog kibble but I incorporate essential vitamins, minerals and oils. I would say only 3x/ week I add raw meat into their meals. For example, I use coconut oil, & wheat germ oil for fur and overall health. I am more fond of Mother Nature’s gifts to us. My wife is always encouraging me to use holistic medicine for all of us here at the camp.
How many times a day do you feed your dogs?
I feed my dogs twice a day.
How do you keep your dogs in shape throughout the year?
I live in a place where there is lots of agricultural land and plenty of back roads. I take them on walks 3-4 times a week. It’s a total of 4 miles from the camp to the Salinas River.
Does MCSC Bullyz currently show any dogs?
Unfortunately, not at this moment due to COVID-19. That has been our goal from day one. We will be showing our foundation female Dakota Blu. She just had her first litter. We are eager to share our production in the near future.
What advice does MCSC Bullyz have for any upcoming breeders?
As an upcoming breeder myself, I would say get informed! Research the breed. It takes a lot of patience, dedication and a full love of the process. No matter what, never give up. Keep going and striving for your vision.
What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
I would say the stereotypes and judgement that breeders and uninformed non-breeders have for this breed.
How do you think they can overcome this thing?
We cannot let them knock down our vision. We all have to be open minded and keep going. At the end of the day, we all have different opinions and we have to be supportive . We can not knock each other down.
We are all in this together as a bully community after all. We want to give more attention to this breed and make it more well known and respected to the public. Especially families with children.
Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
To be honest and open, I do not look up to anyone in particular. I have a lot of respect for everyone doing their best to keep thriving and improving the breed. I respect everyone in the community that wants to make this breed more known.
Tell us about one of MCSC Bullyz main goals for the year 2020.
My main goal this year would be entering the ring, and competing with Dakota Blu. Hopefully we will champ her out.
What separates MCSC Bullyz from the competition?
I would say I am not only looking to give the bully community a champion or family dog, rather a support service dog. I want my kennel to help and support others for healing – mentally, spiritually and emotionally. That’s what I feel makes me different than the rest.
What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
I would consider this as my hobby, apart from being a full time father. My hobby is taking care of my kennel. I love to interact with my dogs, and see their interaction with my kids and others. It’s always a good time being in the camp as a family.
What do I think of Bully Girl Magazine?
I think Bully Girl Magazine is doing an awesome job promoting kennels worldwide. The do such a great job in helping to expand knowledge within the bully community. I feel grateful for the opportunity Bully Girl has given me as an upcoming kennel. Much love and positivity for Bully Girl Magazine, and everyone during these crucial times. Stay safe!
