My name is Sean Heffernan. I am the founder of New School Bullies. You can find us in Chester, MA.
What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
We breed American Bullies because of the long history of love that I’ve always had for Pit Bulls. After the death of our 17 year old Pit, I was looking for a new breed, with the same loving temperament that a Pit has.
What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
Our dogs are on a raw diet, as well as a grain- free dry food.
What is your favorite bloodline?
I don’t really have a favorite bloodline. I just like to focus on good health and breed type.
Do you currently show, any of your dogs?
I currently show a few of my dogs, and have been showing for the last 3 years.
What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?
Upcoming breeders or buyers should do a lot of research. Also, never be scared to ask questions.
What do you think, is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
I feel the most difficult thing to overcome is trying to get everybody to breed to one standard.
How do you think they can overcome this thing?
I believe this can be overcome by DNA testing your dogs. Also, breeding Pockets to Pockets, Standards to Standards and XL’s to XL’s with the most breed type respectively.
Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
A few of the people that I look up to are Ron Ramos, and Oscar Gomez for their knowledge, and breedings. They have been very respectable people over the years.
Tell us about one of New School Bullies main goals going into the year 2018.
My main goals for 2018 are to produce some bad ass top breedings, hit up as many shows as possible, and make New School Bullies a household name.
Describe how you would want things, in the bully Community, to be 10 years from now.
I would like to see one consistent look among the breed. Also, I’d love to see recognition of the American Bully in the AKC registry.
What separates New School Bullies from the competition?
We don’t worry about the competition. We just stay focused on our own goals.
In your own words, what is an Exotic Bully?
I feel like the Exotic bully is its own breed. It should be respected as such.
What is your opinion on the new exotic breed movement?
I’d like to see the future of the Exotics consist of a clean healthy breed of dogs. I have seen some very healthy, beautiful Exotics.
What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
I love spending time with my family, shooting a game of pool, and staying Bully 24-7.

Bully Girl is a well respected magazine. They keep me up to date with all the info on the hottest Bulls, hottest kennels, and hottest bully gear.
