Novacaine Bullies: American Bully Breeder | Texas

State your name, and where your kennel is located.
Our names are Christopher Guerrero and Jenny Palacios, of Novacaine Bullies. You can find us in Yorktown, TX.

What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
We are breeding American Bullies, both pocket and micro sized.

Jenny: As a kid, I have always loved all breeds and watched the dog shows that were on tv. I wanted to be a Judge/Handler. When I was 8 yrs old my uncle bred American Pit Bull Terriers and Arkansas Giant Bulldogges. It was his female APBT named Pretty that stuck out to me. Her loving and loyal temperament with the family inspired me to breed APBT’s. Now I breed Bullies. I started breeding with my sister at the age of 12 years old, and been breeding ever since.

Chris: Since the beginning of our relationship Jenny has been a mentor to me in training and breeding the dogs. She has started a passion for me that I never knew I had. She bought a beautiful pocket bully that we named Flex. He was the first bully that made me say WOW! I have had a love for the breed ever since.

What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
We feed our bullies a high protein diet. The quantity differs with the season of the year.

What is your favorite bloodline?
My favorite bloodlines are Daxline, Miagi bloodline, and Magoo Line.

Do you currently show, any of your dogs?
Yes. We recently showed our Lil V daughter Kikyo at the IBR Bully Expo Show in Austin, TX. It was her first time in the ring and she took home a 3rd place ribbon. We plan on showing her more and trying to establish a bigger presence in all registries that host shows in Texas.

What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?
Do not start breeding unless you’re willing to sacrifice sleep, and time. Also, get used to smelling like s**t, because your going to be around it a lot. Always be prepared for the unexpected, like c-sections, shots, medical emergencies, food, and bedding. If your not prepared, the only ones who suffer are the dogs. We do a lot to ensure our dogs live a comfortable life.

What do you think, is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
The most difficult thing is being accepted and getting others to believe in your Bully as much as you do.

How do you think they can overcome this thing?
Study the breed and go for structure. Breed dogs that will live a long, healthy life.

Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
For us, it would be several people. George Aguilar, Dave Wilson, Rob Lee, Ed Shepherd, Bashar Doud, and Carolina Bully Farms. All these breeders have created beautiful bullies and believed in their dogs.

Tell us about one of Novacaine Bullies main goals going into the year 2018.
Our main goal is to continue to move forward. We will be exposing the bully community to Owen and the creation of O-line. We are going to be bringing in his third generation this year. So be on the look out for an opportunity to own an Owen grandpup this year.

Describe how you would want things, in the bully Community, to be 10 years from now.
For us, it seems like the ABKC has taken big steps to move the community in a more professional direction. The 2017 Nationals raised the bar for what breeders could expect to see in the future. Hopefully, in 10 years we can be lucky enough to have a bully show on national tv being viewed by a global audience.

What separates Novacaine Bullies from the competition?
We have Owen! If you don’t know who he is you can find him on our website novacainebullies.com or Instagram: novacainebullies and lateralusjnp.

In your own words, what is an Exotic Bully?
No real opinion on the exotics. We stick to the pockets and micros.

What is your opinion on the new exotic breed movement?
We are breeding the pockets and micros. We don’t want to breed exotics. If someone else wants to breed exotics then that doesn’t bother us. We don’t believe that they are even in the same category anymore. The exotics have separate registries now and are going in a different direction than the more traditional bullies.

What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
We don’t leave the house very much right now because its all about the dogs. If we aren’t at work we are here at the house messing with the dogs or taking them to a show. If we do get some free time you can still find us at home renovating our newly purchased house.

What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?
We think Bully Girl Magazine is a great source of information. Bully Girl helps the community by finding some nice bullies that others may not have known about.
