State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.
Our names are Martin and Tracy Bogner. We are from Detroit, Michigan. However, we have recently established ourselves in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Our kennel name is Primal House American Bullies.
What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
We are breeding and specializing in the XL American Bully.
What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
We just feed our dogs Blue Buffalo Wilderness. Occasionally we feed raw chicken quarters and eggs, but nothing fancy. Good genetics are the most important thing.
What is your favorite bloodline?
The first bloodline that comes to mind is Razors Edge. However, some of my other favorite bloodlines include RGB, Gotti, Camelot, Greyline, and Watchdog. I’ve got a thing for the OG’s.
Do you currently show, any of your dogs?
We are not showing currently. However, 2019 will be our year to hit the shows and get the dogs out in front of our fans, friends, and followers.
What advice does Primal House American Bullies have for any upcoming breeders?
Do your research! I’m still learning, as I’m sure most of us are. Any one looking to get involved with these dogs should definitely familiarize themselves with the breed, and its standard as written by the ABKC as well as the UKC.
What do you think, is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
The most difficult thing to overcome are the haters and the hype. Trying to have your own vision in a game where everyone who buys a bully is automatically a breeder, no matter the quality or lack thereof, can be overwhelming at times.
How do you think they can overcome this thing?
By understanding the standard and respecting it as the foundation for the breed. I think the best way is to breed to the edge of the standard, while getting better with each breeding without amplifying negative exaggeration of certain traits.
Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
I look up to breeders and kennels who are genuinely trying to improve the breed. Everyone hopes to make a little money of course, but the most important thing is keeping this breed strong. We need to show the true gentle nature of the breed. This will help the bully breed to stay relevant in the years to come.
Tell us about one of Primal House American Bullies main goals for the year 2018.
2018 has been a year of learning and solidifying our vision. We’ve been busy training and socializing our dogs. Our one main goal was to learn more and gain a small following of like minded people. That goal has already been accomplished! 2019 will be our year to make a name for ourselves. Starting with our girl “The Devil Wears Prada”, being bred to Badboy Bullies “Boogie Man”, in the first quarter of 2019!
Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.
In ten years I’d like to see a community with less hate and more unity with the dogs.
What separates Primal House American Bullies from the competition?
Were just a couple that has loved this breed all our lives. We are real, hard working, genuinely honest people trying to produce the most correct show stopping dogs possible. The difference is, we stand by that statement 100%, and never less.
What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
Getting into these dogs has become a hobby in a way. We are both electricians by trade. So when we are not wiring a house, commercial building, or machinery, we’re out with the dogs.
What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?
We love the magazine and the movement that Bully Girl has created. We are so grateful for this opportunity!
