State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.
My name is Alan L, owner of Saso the Bully. We’re in the process of licensing our kennel name, of which we’re excited to be announcing soon. We’re located in the San Francisco Bay Area of California.
What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
We’re just getting started with breeding standard American Bullies. What inspired us was the amazing temperament, strength and loyalty of this breed. Also, their lovable personalities can not be overlooked.
In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?
I feel that proper ethics is the single most important quality of a responsible person who conducts any business.
What type of diet do you keep Saso the Bully, and the rest of your dogs on throughout the year?
I feed Saso the Bully a raw diet with supplements.
What is your favorite bloodline?
My favorite bloodline of all time is Daxline.
Do you currently show any of your dogs?
We’ve shown Saso the Bully once at the 2019 West Coast Classic. We definitely plan to show him more this year in 2020.
What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?
I’d say it’s important to always use contracts in your dealings. Verbal agreements can leave you open to misunderstandings and problems. Even more importantly, make sure you do business with trustworthy and ethical people.
What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
I think the biggest challenge for anyone is to really trust their vision.
How do you think they can overcome this thing?
Trust the blood.
Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
I really appreciate and respect the Smokin Barrel Bullies family. I reached out to Ryan and he was straight and unselfish. Ryan connected me with one of his kennel partners at the time, here in California, Marcus. That’s how we got Saso the Bully.
Tell us about one of your main goals for the year 2020.
We want to show Saso the Bully, with hopes of achieving Champion status in the ABKC.
Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.
I would love to see the bully community recognized as part of the mainstream dog community.
What separates your kennel from the competition?
I don’t really aim to compete. We’re actually more like advocates and supporters than competitors.
What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
Other than dogs, health and fitness is an ongoing thing for my family. We are always learning and seeking more knowledge on how to live a healthy lifestyle.
What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?
I like Bully Girl Magazine! It’s stylish, entertaining and covers our favorite topic, bully breed dogs!
