My name is Jennifer Padilla with STR8 Gentlemens Bulls XL. You can find us in Southern California, Jurupa Valley, CA to be exact.
What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
We breed XL American Bullies. We were inspired by bullies in 2004. Our first bully, Patches, was a rescue who had a great temperament and a loyal personality.
In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?
In my opinion, responsible dog breeders come in all forms, depending on what the buyers are looking for. The main characteristics I look for in breeders are: a good reputation, honesty, integrity, and cleanliness.
What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
The diet for our bullies consist of rice, fatty oils, and high protein (chicken).
What is your favorite bloodline?
I have a few bloodlines that I like such as ICK Bloodlines and Royal Bloodline King Liger.
Do you currently show any of your dogs?
Yes! I currently show PR GHB’s Rover and PR K&Q’s Coco.
What advice does STR8 Gentlemens Bulls XL have for any upcoming breeders?
Attend as many shows as possible. UKC shows, ABKC shows, and Fun shows. This will help you develop love for the breed and not just the money.
What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
One of the most difficult things for people to overcome in the bully game is constructive criticism and learning from others.
How do you think they can overcome this thing?
To overcome this, go out and learn from other reputable people that have been in the bully game for many years.
Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
I look up to a few people in the bully world, but the ones that stand out to me the most are James Roman, from Callie Ruth Frenchies and Rob, from Ultimate Bullies. James and Rob both put in work inside and outside the show ring.
Tell us about one of STR8 Gentlemens Bulls XL main goals for the year 2020.
One of our goals for 2020 is to continue to show and expose our bullies. We want to make a reputable name for our upcoming kennel.
Describe how you would want things in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.
In ten years, I would want these bullies to be recognized as a good reputable breed for families to enjoy.
What separates STR8 Gentlemens Bulls XL from the competition?
What separates us from other kennels is the work put in behind the scenes before showing them: socializing them, exposing them, and all the affection that we give them. This creates a great foundation.
What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
Other hobbies and interests that I take part in are barrel racing horses, camping, and spending time with my family.
