State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located?
My name is Liz Gonzalez, founder and operator of Superior Style Bullies. We are located on 2.5 acres in St. Cloud, Florida (close to Orlando).
What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
Superior Style Bullies specializes in designer American Bullies; focusing on pockets, XL and XXL’s. My entire life has been filled with a passion for Pitbull’s. Throughout the years, I have gained extensive knowledge on this breed, established a network to promote American Bullies, and thoroughly enjoy their character, which has brought me to this point.
In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?
A responsible breeder should provide a clean environment, thriving atmosphere, and proper diet for each dog. I pride myself on carefully choosing which dogs to breed, based on the looks, temperament and health of the dog. They are my family, so I like to make assessments periodically for my bullies. This allows me to adjust any special requirements they may need and provide an overall enjoyable environment. That helps each dog show their personality, strengths and kindness.
What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
A balanced nutrition, along with paying attention to climate and their environment are essential for growth. My bullies always eat grain free food. During the winter season, I will boil chicken, rice, oatmeal and a few additional ingredients. During the summer, I focus only on grain free dog food, due to the Florida humidity. I always want to make sure the dogs health is 100%.
What is your favorite bloodline?
I live, eat and breathe bullies. I certainly can not pick just one. Although, I do have a soft spot for Greyline, Gotti, Razors Edge, Petterson, Dax and Kurupt.
Does Superior Style Bullies currently show any dogs?
At the moment I am 100% focusing on building my program. In the future, I will be definitely attending and showing.
What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?
Stay true to your vision, work hard and be patient. Within time the hard work will pay off.
What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
The most challenging thing people in the bully game have to overcome is jealousy and hate.
How do you think they can overcome this thing?
Step up your game, accept the challenge and be true to yourself. At the end of the day, we are all here for one reason; the passion for the breed and the commitment to our dogs. It is bad enough people outside the bully community bash us. We do not need to be doing the same against each other.
Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
I have a mentor, and they know who they are. When I first started I had no direction. With their guidance, I now run an amazing program that I am extremely proud of. It has taught me a valuable lesson. It is not about the amount of dogs you have, it’s about the kind of dogs you have.
Tell us about one of Superior Style Bullies main goals for the year 2019?
My main goal is to finish the remodeling of my facility areas for my dogs. They mean the world to me, so it’s only right to treat them the way they should be treated.
Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now?
To keep it simple, I would love to see more real people who are true to the breed. How can we expect other breeders to support us if we don’t support them? We need to stop the hate between exotics, pockets, standard, xl and so on. We should be one family and support each other.
I may not be a fan of a specific breed. However, that doesn’t mean I’ll bash you on your vision or program. We need to help, teach, and learn from one another. Accept criticism and grow from within. Our dogs deserve that.
What separates Superior Style Bullies from the competition?
I don’t see anyone as competition. I just want to show the world what my eyes can see. When you’re true to the game, and your heart is in it for the breed, there is no competition.
What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
Besides running Superior Style Bullies, I also run Superior Style Boarding, Superior Style Clothing and soon to be announced Superior Style Car Club. I keep myself focused on the things I have a passion for, and what is important to me.
What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?
Bully Girl Magazine is one of the best magazines I have ever come across. I definitely would recommend Bully Girl Magazine to anyone who loves and supports the bully breed.
