State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.
My name is Christina Horrach and my husband is David Horrach. Our kennel is named Unique Bulliez and we are located in New York.
What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
We breed Pocket American Bullies and recently started breeding French Bulldogs. We got involved with American bullies because we love the temperament of the breed. They are excellent with kids and they are great family dogs. We also like the structure and energy they have.To us, they are an all around awesome companion dog. We are still new to french bulldogs, however we decided to get one because of their small size and their funny personalities. Now we couldn’t imagine not having one.
In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?
I think one good characteristic of a responsible dog breeder is patience. With raising puppies and doing proper training, you need a lot of patience and love for the dogs.
What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
We feed our dogs Kirkland dog food, mixed with a RAW blend.
What is your favorite bloodline?
Our favorite bloodline is Razors Edge.
Does Unique Bulliez currently show any dogs?
Yes, we started showing our dogs about two years ago. Our boy Patch Adams, is 2 majors away from becoming a ABKC Champion.
What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?
My advice for upcoming breeders is to do as much research as you can. Also, have your own vision. Make sure you’re getting into breeding for the right reasons. There will be a lot of hard work and sleepless nights when you have litters. You must truly love bully breed dogs and have a passion for this to be successful.
What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
One of the most difficult things for people to overcome in the bully game is other people. No matter how good you are doing or how nice your dogs are, there are always people that are going to try to bring you down.
How do you think they can overcome this thing?
I think we can all overcome this by supporting one another, and trying to help each other out.
Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
I don’t look up to anyone, but I do respect a lot of other breeders.
Tell us about one of Unique Bulliez main goals for the year 2020.
One of our main goals is to make our boy Patch Adams an ABKC Champion. I am his handler, and I work hard with him everyday, so it would be a big accomplishment for Unique Bulliez.
Describe how you would want things in the bully breed Community to be 10 years from now.
We would like for the bully breed to thrive and for more people to support one another. We would like for the bully breed to be recognized as the amazing family dogs that they are. Not being known as dangerous dogs that people have portrayed them to be. Hopefully in ten years the stereotype is gone.
What separates Unique Bulliez from the competition?
I think our love for our dogs separates us from other kennels. I am a stay at home mom, while my husband works. So I spend most of my day with my dogs and kids, when they aren’t at school. Our dogs are house dogs, that are around our kids everyday.
What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
We have two kids, so we like going out and doing fun activities with them. If it’s a place that we can bring the dogs with us, it’s even better!
What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?
We love the BGM. We appreciate all the love and support you give to the bully community. Thank you for interviewing us, and we look forward to seeing the great things to come.
