This may or may not be a first, but how cool is this? Taxi Benke, a guide dog for 14 year old girl named Rachel Benke has made his spot in history by having his photo included in the Hector Garcia Middle School yearbook right next to Rachel. Taxi has remained by his master Rachel’s side the last 4 yr as a trained seizure alert dog, so it only seemed fitting he landed a spot right next to her in print! Taxi can predict Rachel’s seizures up to an hour and a half before they happen. It is assumed the early detection comes from a smell emitted, but that is simply a guess. Congratulations to Taxi and Rachel for beautiful yearbook photos and we will be looking forward to seeing next years photos too.
