2nd2nun Bullies

State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.
My name is Danny Cervantes, founder of 2nd2nun Bullies. You can find us in the New York / New Jersey area.

What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
I started out breeding standard bullies. I love there compact structure. This was until one day when I saw a friend of mine with an XL bully, and he was correct. Shortly after that I was blessed with one of my own. That changed my vision and direction in the bully game.

In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?
A responsible breeder should be honest, and always breed to improve the overall breed. Responsible breeders take pride in what they sell, and who they are selling to. They are humble, accept fault in any situations, and are willing to make any necessary adjustments.

What type of diet does 2nd2nun Bullies keep use throughout the year?
At 2nd2nun Bullies, we feed straight kibble, mixed with raw. I have kept all my dogs, except one, on Victor dog food. I also have one dog on science diet wet food and raw, due to his digestive system.

What is your favorite bloodline?
I don’t get hyped about bloodlines. I love correct dogs. There are a few big name bloodlines in my kennel. One day I will create my own bloodline. However, for now I’m into correct dogs. They have to be nice and clean, with good temperament, and people/dog friendly.

Tell our readers about your recent Luck of the Bullz 2 event.
My LUCK OF THE BULLZ 2 event was amazing to say the least. Twice the amount of ppl and dogs came and registered. The competition was fierce. This was the first quadruple BBCR show in the tri-state area, and it was successful. There were a lot of big names in the house. We had 4 great judges (Mo Barrow, Al Rivera, Kevin Peppers, and Timothy Sinclair). We also had a very good Emcee (Fw Spielberg). BGM was in the house for the 2nd time blessing us with your appearance in the building. It was a great feeling, and very overwhelming. It was awesome to see so many good people ,with beautiful dogs show up. I was happy and grateful.

Will you be hosting any any upcoming events in the near future?
Yes, the next show I am focusing on is in Rhode Island. After Rhode Island, maybe the Midwest. I’m trying to not only become a good breeder, but one very good host that could bring the bully community together as a whole.

What advice does 2nd2nun Bullies have for any upcoming breeders?
Do not follow the hype. Be respectful. Have your own vision, and stay true to it. It’s important to stay humble. Let the people get to know the person you are, before they get to know what you breed.

What do you think, is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
Ego and loyalty. Some people get it confused of how this game is. To me it’s a hobby, but at the same time, I know what I have and I know what and where I need to improve. So as a responsible breeder, I need to take those steps. Nowadays breeders take too many short cuts and lie about there program. They want to get rich off of one sale, instead of creating a relationship with they’re clients. Some breeders don’t even remember who they sold a pup to after a month or so. That’s crazy. We need to treat our clients as we would like to be treated. Treat your clients with respect, and concern. Like I said before, be humble.

How do you think they can overcome this thing?
With practice, and good mentoring on they’re side. By being able to accept structural criticism and implementing it in your program if it fits. Always look at your own program, and do not follow the hype.

Tell us about one of 2nd2nun Bullies main goals for 2019.
My main goal is to keep planning shows. I’m looking foward to hosting another successful show. Also, mid-year I plan to do an in-house breeding with my boy HE-MAN aka RHINO.

What separates 2nd2nun Bullies from the competition?
I don’t compete. I stay in my lane and respect what others are doing. When it’s my time to breed my boy, sell my litter, or host a show, then and only then do I worry about what needs to get done. Other than that, I help anyone who I can. I’m loyal to all my kennel affiliates and my kennel partner/brother of RIPXXLBULLY. My brother of OHK (OneHungrieKennels). We’re always planning ways to improve.

What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
Just my dogs and video games. Now that I have a new born baby, Brooklyn Aliyah aka Baby2nd2nun, I spend as much time as I can with her. I’m also trying to create a new clothe line, for her by her.

What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?
Honestly, Bully Girl is awesome. You guys support the community without bragging about it. Bully Girl is so humble and true to what they do. They don’t jsut look for the big names. BGM gives everyone a platform to speak and be heard. I respect and support you guys 100%. Thank you!
