State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.
We are Rachel and Eric, founders of ILL Blood Bullies. You can find us in North Carolina. We used to be called I.E. Pits back from 2002-2010.
What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
We Breed Bully Pit Bulls a.k.a. American Bullies. Well, both of us were inspired by Eric’s up the street Neighbor Oliver DeLa Cruz, of the DeLa Cruz bloodline. From the age of 10 Eric helped Oliver with all aspects of his kennel. We loved the breeds loyalty, temperament, and how hard they will work for the people they love.
We got in the game as soon as Eric graduated in 2002. At one point we had 22 dogs and worked our kennel full time. Eric spent all his free time on the Greyline MSN boards learning all that he could. Now we’ve cut back to 4 dogs that stay inside with us.
In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?
A good breeder looks out for the dogs best interest, takes care of their dogs like they should, and makes sure they breed with the dogs health in mind. Also, a good breeder always does good business.
What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
We keep our bullies on a mix of raw meat, grain free kibble, and raw eggs.
What is your favorite bloodline?
Well, DeLa Cruz will always have a place in my heart, but currently Daxline is killing it.
Do you currently show any of your dogs?
We currently have no time. I wish I had the time to go to shows again.
What advice does ILL Blood Bullies have for any upcoming breeders?
Do your research! Study the game and the work involved to do it right. Be real and honest. Also, be ready for lots of joy, as well as heartache.
What do you think, is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
The price of it all. Not only the cost of buying a pup, feed, stud fees, vet bills, more vet bills and destroyed property. Also the cost of time involved, and the sad times.
How do you think they can overcome this thing?
Start slow. Only breed when you have all the knowledge and you can afford to. Save up and by quality foundation dogs.
Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
Shout out to The Bully Market. They have marketing down to an art. The Bully Market produces great looking dogs.
Tell us about one of ILL Blood Bullies main goals for the year 2019.
The goal is to get Shippo (our up and coming stud) nationally known.
Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.
I would like to see less bulldogs with crops, and more Bully Pit Bulls. If a dog can’t run or breathe, we shouldn’t be breeding it.
What separates ILL Blood Bullies from the competition?
We aren’t in competition with anyone. We live to create what we believe to be the perfect bullies.
What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
We love the outdoors and enjoy hiking and mountain biking. Also, we both love to ride our Harley’s.
What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?
We love it. I feel Bully Girl Magazine picked up where Atomic Dogg left off, but with more insight for new breeders.
