Prime Time Bullies: Micro American Bully Breeder | California

Prime Time Bullies

State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.
My name is Sean Pietersz, founder of Prime Time Bullies. You can find us in Southern California.

What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
We currently breed high quality pocket and micro American Bullies. I have always loved the breed after seeing dogs like Excalibur, Grand Champion Lock n Load, and a lot of the old school Razors Edge bullies. Watching the transition of standard and classic American Bullies start going towards pockets, made me fall more in love with the breed!

The fact that you can get that big block head and muscled up body on a smaller frame, enticed me to start creating my own version of the American Bully. Grand Champion Beastro is the dog that made we want to get into breeding. Beastro is my definition of the perfect American Bully!

In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?
Responsible breeders are not “kennel blind”. They know which of their dogs should not contribute to the gene pool. A responsible breeder looks to correct and enhance the breed. Also, responsible breeders are picky on what studs they use, and what bitches should reproduce. Being selective and having a vision that is not wavered from, is how a real breeder should think when building up their program/yard. Breed for improvement!

What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
I tend to switch up with kibble. However, I really love using Victor HERO grain free! I use that daily, mixed with NuPro dog supplements. I also will mix a raw egg in a couple times a week, with coconut oil.

What is your favorite bloodline?
This is a hard question to answer. Homieblood, (Bully Market) is what made me want to breed. So, I would have to say Homieblood, which is the foundation for many kennels! My dogs are heavy Daxline, so that would be one of my favorite lines as well.

Does Prime Time Bullies currently show any dogs?
I have been slacking as of late, but now in 2019 we are looking to start hitting the shows, and getting King James in the ring!

What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?
Breed with integrity and stick to your vision. Don’t just breed for money, because you will be highly disappointed! Breeding is not as easy as some may think. There are lots of ups and downs. You always have to remember that these dogs have feelings, and their health should always be a breeders main concern.

What do you think, is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
I think being kennel blind, and breeding solely for money is probably the hardest thing to overcome. Also, being honest. A lot of paper hanging and bad business is very much alive in the bully game. That needs to stop!

How do you think they can overcome this thing?
Be patient and breed with a vision. The best kennels and producers have taken years and multiple generations before creating their ideal line. This doesn’t happen overnight.

Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
Rob Lee from the Bully Market is one, for the fact that he didn’t subject his line or brand to follow a trend. He stood firm with his vision, and is super successful because of it! Also, Mike Meza, from the Short Muscle Camp. Mike is another well known producer of some of the worlds most famous bulls. He is another guy that I highly respect!

Tell us about one of Prime Time Bullies main goals for the year 2019.
In 2019, we are continuing to focus on our vision to produce show quality Mini American Bullies. These bullies will be between 10-12” tall, fully functional, have great temperament, nice blocky heads, solid bone structure, and clean and correct feet!

Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.
Ten years from now, I would really hope the poorly bred exotic bully breed fad fades out. It’s time for the real American Bully breed to once again shine!

What separates Prime Time Bullies from the competition?
I think the fact that we do not over breed, and that we are very picky with the dogs we do breed is one factor. Another factor, is that we specialize in tri color, fully functional, short muscled up American bullies with great structure. We do things different, and we spend a lot of money doing things the right way!

What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
When we aren’t doing dog things, we spend time with our kids.

What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?
I think Bully Girl Mag is awesome! We appreciate the opportunity, and wish y’all much success!
