State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.
My name is Jonathan Gray, founder of Nonpareilbullies254. You can find us in Copperas, Texas.
What type of dogs do you breed?
I breed Pocket and Micro style American Bully’s. I grew up with Labrador Retrievers and cats lol. So I really didn’t have a say so in what pets our family owned. This was until I was about 12 years old. I have always seen APBT’s around the neighborhood, and loved the muscular body features and fearsome mugs. I finally had my chance to own one when I turned 16, and the love grew from there.
In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?
In my opinion, a responsible breeders’ number one priority is the health and well-being of his/her dogs. Responsible breeders provide clean and sanitized living quarters and perform routine health checks on all of their dogs.
What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
We like to feed our dogs a wide variety. For example, we do a raw feed, with a mixture of high protein kibble and supplements. They really like Liquid Gold and Orijen.
What is your favorite bloodline?
Man, that’s a hard one. I’m a big fan of Mikelands blood. I’ve had my eyes on them since I started with the Bully Breed around 2004.
Does Nonpareilbullies254 currently show any dogs?
Currently we’re not doing any shows. However, we do have a couple of big breeding’s lined up for summer of 2019. Also, my wife and I are awaiting the arrival of our 3rd daughter. So we’re pretty much tied down at the moment.
What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?
Breeding is not for the faint of heart. You must truly have a passion for these dogs and their welfare. Breeding is not a get rich scheme, and it’s not as easy as some of these breeders portray on the social media outlets. There will be losses and there will gains. It’s a rewarding lifestyle if you show it respect, and stay loyal.
What do you think, is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
Ego’s! Honestly, I think the game lacks respect and camaraderie. There is too much “he say/she say”, and hating on the next man. I see too many people getting over on others, instead of paying their dues. We all can do better as a whole.
How do you think they can overcome this thing?
I think it comes down too that old school rule. Treat others the way you want to be treated. Show the game respect, and do right by people. 90% of the time it will be reciprocated. I don’t down talk anyone’s kennels or dogs I stay in my own lane and focus on the betterment of the breed.
Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
To be honest, right now Khan and them Phokingstyle boys making hella noise! I’ve always been a big fan of Boss blood, and I love what he’s doing with Rockomania and all his son’s.
Tell us about one of Nonpareilbullies254 main goals for the year 2019.
My main goal for 2019 is to produce a stud that will change the game, like Gotti and Remy did in the 90’s. Dream big right?
Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.
I would just like to see everyone breeding and showing quality dogs, with all the emotions and drama put to the side.
What separates Nonpareilbullies254 from the competition?
We’re a small kennel with a big heart. Our determination and passion to please our customers and fan base is unmatched. I treat all my customers and bully fam with love and respect. You would think we were raised under the same roof and ate at the same tables. We want to produce the best of the best, and we have the knowledge and patience to do so.
What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
I’m actually a barber by trade. It has been a passion and hobby of mine for many years.
What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?
I think it’s amazing the way you guys put on for the bully community. Bully Girl Magazine gives breeders like myself a voice and a platform to express ourselves.
