State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.
Hi, our names are Naz, Mayre, Cristopher and Angie. We are located in Port Saint Lucie, Florida and our kennel is called Alpha Omega Bully Kennels.
What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
We breed XL American Bullies and it all started about two years ago when I was formally introduced to one of my friend’s dogs which were Bullies and that’s where we got our female Zoe. It all started from there.
In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?
A breeder who is going to do a correct breeding and perform appropriate testing as far as OFA – overall health and structure of the dogs. You can’t just take two dogs, put them together and expect a wish to come true.
What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
Kibble is basically what we feed our dogs. Once in a while we’ll throw in some raw beef.
What is your favorite bloodline?
My favorite bloodline would be Razors Edge. I remember growing up back in the 90’s
and hearing about them, and how they were up and coming. That’s how I became familiar with bullies.
Does Alpha Omega Bully Kennels currently show any dogs?
We were planning on putting Ryder in the Show Ring at the ABKC Jacksonville Bully Showdown. Unfortunately due to Coronavirus that isn’t possible now, but maybe next time when things clear up.
What advice does Alpha Omega Bully Kennels have for any upcoming breeders?
Patience – you need to have a lot of it. You can’t just get into breeding and think everything is going to be easy. Patience is key, and family support as you may know is also very important. It’s impossible to take care of the dogs on your own, along with your family and everyday living. If you get into breeding for the sole purpose of making money, it’s never going to work out.
What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
Negativity, at times from other breeders. The stereotype the bullies have from the community and even our neighbors – you just have to focus on yourself, the vision you set forth and follow through.
How do you think they can overcome this thing?
Well for us, we purposely post videos of the kids and the dogs interacting – and that’s very important because when we are out, the first question we are asked is how the dogs are with the kids. That is why we are constantly posting the kids and having them walk the dogs (with no problem). We try to show the world that Bullies are gentle with an amazing temperament.
Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
I’ve received amazing advice from many breeders and I did my own homework before getting into the Bully game. We look up to ourselves, but have respect for Bossy Kennels. Not only because we get dogs from them, but the whole transition from the beginning along with the conversations, interactions…they’re just like family.
Bossy Kennels, Dawn from Bossy Kennels, Maui – it’s like one big family with mutual respect and love, it’s unbelievable. We can call Kat for advice whether it’s personal or about the dogs. Sometimes you would think “Oh they purchased a dog from us, let’s just forget about them”, but that’s not the case here. We actually have another puppy on the way in about 8 weeks, so Bossy Kennels is easy to deal with.
Tell us about one of Alpha Omega Bully Kennels main goals for the year 2020.
Our main goal for this year is completing a successful breeding between Ryder and Zoe, and we’ve discussed obtaining another female which would be in our possession in about 8 weeks as I stated earlier.
Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.
Bigger than what it is now – expansion. The Bully World is insane, I never thought it was this big. It’s nationwide and as long as we have people with Bullies taking them out into the community to get them recognized, that’s what we need to make it grow.
What separates Alpha Omega Bully Kennels from the competition?
The love for the breed between all of us. We don’t look at it as competition. If anything, we are in competition with ourselves – trying to do everything better, step by step by working on ourselves and the dogs (which are our main focus).
What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
It’s hard between the kids, their sports and the dogs. So, our main focus is working together as a family to make the dogs happy. There’s no other time – our focus is on them and us as a whole.
What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?
Bully Girl Magazine is Amazing! If it wasn’t for people like you guys we wouldn’t be able to expand – especially the whole Bully World. I respect it. When we received the invite I was thinking “Who’s this now”, but we are glad we accepted and we definitely appreciate the invite. Bully Girl Magazine is playing a major part in expanding the Bully breed.
