Tell our readers a little bit about yourself.
My Name is David Vasquez, better known in the bully game as Bully Boy Debo and founder of Blue Chip Bullies. You can find us in New York.
What type of dogs do you breed?
I breed French Bulldogs and Micro Exotic American bully’s.
In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?
When I decided to become a breeder, it was with the intention of creating my own look by adding my style to the breed. I don’t just breed to breed, and only produce 2 to 3 litters a year. My main responsibility is to breed healthy Micro Exotic pups.
What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
I feed my dogs Victor brand high protein dog food, with a mix of canned food and raw ground beef. It gets cold in the winter, so I cut down from feeding 2 times a day to 1. They get less recreation during this period, so I don’t want to over feed. I love the heavy set look, but a prefer the tight skin look with muscle tone, so you can enjoy the extreme features of the breed.
What is your favorite bloodline?
I started of with the Miagi blood because it has always been my preference. I love the look. My first stud was El Capo, a direct Miagi son.
Do you currently show, any of your dogs?
Two weeks into having my 2nd Stud “MICROWAVE” in my yard, I drove up to Niagra Falls and showed him at a ABR show, taking third place. After having “MICROWAVE” for a few months I traveled to an IBR show and did even better, taking home that blue ribbon. From there on it’s been nothing but blue and red ribbons in the extreme micro exotic category.
What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?
Future breeders should get involved, learn, ask questions and try to move the breed forward not backwards. This is a breed that lacks so many things.
What do you think, is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
I would say the most difficult thing in the game is loyalty, honesty, and being able to work with one another.
How do you think they can overcome this thing?
Every one wants to just promote there blood or there dog, and don’t notice that the more you help and collaborate with others, the more you grow. Kennel blindness and ignorant people are killing this bully movement.
Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
I look up to the old heads, the icons, and the successful because they have failed and been through it all. I also look up to the young heads because they are the ones that are going to take over and bring something new to the bully game.
Tell us about one of your main goals for the year 2019.
In 2019, my goal is to finally breed to Bape, and about 3 more studs that I have my eye on. Also, 2019 will be the year I do Microwaves first inbreed.
Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.
I don’t know what the next 10 years looks like. However, I hope the breed is in a better place, with healthier dogs.
What separates your kennel from the competition?
The focus is only on our projects and vision. I am also looking forward to working with other kennels. Blue Chip Bullies is not kennel blind, and we don’t see this as a competition. Blue Chip Bullies has a passion and love for the breed. I love how every time I think there’s no more to accomplish inside the bully game, I see someone else produce an amazing pup.
