Skys The Limit XL Kennel: American Bully Breeder | Southern California

Skys the Limit XL Kennel

State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.
My name is Demarques Pearl, I am the CEO and Founder of Skys The Limit XL Kennel. You can find us in Southern California.

What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
I breed American Bullies. In Junior High School I bred Rottweilers for a while, but I had friends who had Pit Bulls and American bullies. Seeing how athletic, structured, and eager to please  their owners the American Bully was made me want to get involved with them.

In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?
In my opinion being disciplined is a major characteristic because these dogs require a lot of daily attention, exercise, and love. Sometimes having a busy schedule can get in the way of putting in the adequate amount of time. Also being humble, honest, and able to accept criticism because not everyone in this game is gonna be a fan of what you are into, and that’s ok.

You also have to be open minded and understanding, so that you can keep learning and growing because that’s the only way to become successful.

What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
I personally keep my dogs on a kibble diet (Victor High Pro Plus), and give them cooked meat 2 or 3 times a week.

What is your favorite bloodline?
Choosing a favorite bloodline is hard for me because I’m a BIG fan of a few. Some of my favorites are the Butthead, Ganghis Kon, and Gotti bloodlines.

Do you currently show, any of your dogs?
I currently do not show my dogs, but we’re going to start getting into the shows coming up this year.

What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?
As a young breeder myself I would just tell upcoming breeders to stay humble and keep an open ear and mind. There’s so much to learn. If you have an “I don’t need no help” mentality you’ll never have room to grow. Also, trust your bloodline, trust your process, and trust your vision. Lastly, never get down or give up on yourself. Success doesn’t come overnight.

What do you think, is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
I think the most difficult thing for people to overcome in the bully game is the fear of being accepted and successful.

How do you think they can overcome this thing?
I believe the only way to overcome this fear is by first believing in yourself and the bloodline you have in your yard. Also, don’t being afraid to reach out to other breeders for business and bloodlines. I’ve learned that even the biggest breeders and kennels collaborate with others to make certain productions happen.

Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
There are two people that I really look up to in the Bully game. First, would be my older homie Theo at Living It Up Kennels. I look up to Theo because he took under his wing and taught me the game.  He also gives me tips on how to keep my dogs looking good how to perfect the look and quality of my dogs. I also look up to my man Rudy at Cucuy Kennels. I look up to Rudy because I purchased my first foundation male from him, so that played a big part in the bloodline and base of my kennel. Also because he is very consistent in the quality and look of his productions. Rudy produces fire XL Tri’s, and you know a product of Cucuy Kennels when you see it.

Tell us about one of the main goals for Skys The Limit XL Kennel for the year 2019.
One of my Main Goals for 2019 is to start entering shows, and network with more breeders who’ve been in the game longer then I have.

Describe how Skys the Limit XL Kennel would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.
In the next 10 years I’d want to see more standards, XLs, and XXLs in the bully breed community versus micros and exotics. However, that’s just my preference. I have nothing against the micro and exotic breeders though, it’s all Bully Love.

What separates Skys The Limit XL Kennel from the competition?
What separates my kennel from the competition is that we are a faith based kennel and we keep God first in everything we do. Also, the fact that no matter the adversity or opposition, we stay focused on our blueprints and plans for perfection and production.

What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
Outside of breeding dogs, I am a drummer and an Elementary School drum line coach.

What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?
I think Bully Girl Magazine is an amazing source of positive exposure and networking for kennels that are not as popular as others. I also love the fact that Bully Girl Magazine reaches out to local breeders with opportunities to be seen by a big number of viewers in the Bully Community. I’d also like to personally thank Bully Girl Magazine for blessing me with this amazing opportunity to introduce myself and my kennel to the world. God bless.
