Hello, my name is Brandii Machuca, owner of Cali Tri Bullies. You can find us in Redding, California.

What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
I have been breeding Extreme, Standard and XL American Bullies for 11 years now. Growing up seeing my dad breed Rottweilers, I couldn’t help but follow in his footsteps, and do the same with my own breed of dog, the American Bully. I love them so much!

In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?
A responsible breeder in my opinion is someone who knows what they are doing in all aspects of breeding. From the breeding process, the birth and whelping of puppies, care, training, and socialization. It all goes hand in hand.

What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
I keep my dogs on a nice healthy diet, using a variety of things to keep them active, happy and healthy inside and out. We use a salmon and sweet potato dry food, a protein supplement, salmon skin coat liquid, sweet potato, and raw mix from our local butcher shop.

What is your favorite bloodline?
My favorite bloodlines would have to be: King Liger, Camelot and Gottiline. The productions are amazing in all aspects from temperament and disposition, to the all around structure of these amazing bullies.

Do you currently show any of your dogs?
We will be showing productions off “Cali Tri Bullies America” at the ABKC shows in 2020.

What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?
Advice I would give to any upcoming breeders is don’t just follow the hype. Really have a passion for these dogs and know what you are doing. It’s not all fun and games. A lot of blood, sweat and tears go into taking care of these dogs. Stick to your vision.

What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
The most difficult thing to overcome would have to be just sticking to your own visions. There is always a new hype or trend of what people think that everyone wants.

How do you think they can overcome this thing?
In reality, everyone should just focus on creating beautiful, healthy, functional American Bullies.

Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
I look up to Kat at Bossy Kennels. She breeds XL American Bullies and has an incredible program.

Tell us about one of your main goals for the year 2020.
Cali Tri Bullies goals for 2020 is to have a successful breeding with our Bossy King Zion granddaughter, America and our Bossy Willy Wonka son, Sugardaddy. We are hoping to create some amazing pups off these two.

Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.
Ten years from now I would like to see more people in the bully community united and uplifting one another, with less competition. I would also like for more people have knowledge about the bully breed, instead of going by stereotypes.

What separates your kennel from the competition?
The thing that separates my kennel from others would have to be the consistency I bring with all of my productions. From selective breeding, to producing amazing structure, color, temperament and disposition.

What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
Aside from breeding, I love photography. I love to cook and bake. I also love working out at the gym and I’m an Herbalife health coach.
