State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.
My name is David Valenzuela, founder Evolution Kennels. You can find us in Big Lake, a small town in West Texas.
What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
We breed Micro American Bully’s. I was inspired by this particular breed because of their small muscular build. They’re fast, lovable and very family oriented animals. At first glance this particular breed struck me as odd. However, they grew on me. They’re such small dogs with huge personalities.
What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
Here at Evolution Kennels, our pups eat Blue Buffalo puppy food, and the adults eat a 30/20 Purina Pro Plan mix. We are firm believers that just because they are on a diet, doesn’t mean they can’t have dessert. We let them live life to the fullest.
What is your favorite bloodline?
That’s a tough question to answer. I’ve said I prefer these dogs because they are rare and exotic to me. The bloodlines that stand out to me are Miagi, West Coast Gottiline, and the Bullyhouse George.
Do you currently show, any of your dogs?
We have been to a couple of shows. We will be showing our dogs more in the future, so be on the lookout for us. Stop by and say hello if you see us. We would be more than glad to hang out with you.
What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?
All I can say is stay humble. The Bully community is amazing and you never know who you are going to partner up with, and start the next big thing. It’s possible, and there is no room for negativity. Treat others as you wish to be treated.
What do you think, is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
The hardest part of it all is taking a loss. Sometimes pups don’t make it, and you get attached to them all. It’s also very easy to fall a victim to social media, get lazy, and take the easy way. Therefore, I would say taking a loss and turning it into a winning situation is the most difficult thing to overcome.
How do you think they can overcome this thing?
Overcoming a death of a pup is never easy. As far as social media goes, we all need to get our dogs out in the open and to shows. I meet so many people that fall in love with my dogs, and have no idea what kind of dog they are or where they came from. It’s our job to educate. There is no time to be negative. It’s our job as a bully community to show our dogs as much as possible and educate others of the breeds. This way they can realize the loving family members that these dogs become.
Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
I look up to Texas Bully Ranch, Vajito Kennels, Kidsupreme Bully Camp, Texas Premier Bulls, and OVI Graphics. Mainly because each one never turned me away and always gave me a helping hand or offered some helpful advice. They never put themselves first.
Tell us about one of Evolution Kennels main goals going into the year 2018.
I hope to have one of the boldest and most trustworthy kennels in the game. Also, I want Evolution Kennels to have the biggest name within the Bully Community.
Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.
A zombie apocalypse. A complete take over. I want every animal loving household to have an American Bully in it.
What separates Evolution Kennels from the competition?
Competition? I didn’t know I was competing! This as a way of life. I do this for the love of the breeds, not to see how many 1st place trophies I can bring home. I believe in the breed and the loyalty these dogs show to their owners. This is a family, and family takes care of one another.
What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
I enjoy working on my Harley Davidson and Mustang. Also, I enjoy having cooking competitions with friends and family. I also donate time to Veterans organizations, because without them, we wouldn’t enjoy the things we have or the freedom they fought for.
What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?
I love the image Bully Girl Magazine portrays for the American and Exotic Bully breed. Bully Girl Magazine does a lot for the Bully community, and I appreciate that.
