Who is Grayline Bullies?
State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.
My name is Tryna Fowler, founder of Grayline Bullies. You can find us in Victorville, California.
What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
Grayline Bullies breeds the American Bully. The bully breed has always attacted me. Once I purchased El Chapo, I decided I wanted to get into breeding. Anyway, I already had experience from breeding German Shepherds and Miniature Schnauzers.
In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?
In my opinion, a responsible breeder is someone who strives to improve the breed itself. Responsible breeders will put the time into doing homework on potential dogs who they may plan to breed to. They have high expectations for their productions and breeding’s.
I also believe that a responsible breeder will educate anyone who may have questions or lacks knowledge about the breed. Many times I hear people call my dogs “pit bulls”, “pit bull mix”, “bulldog”, and I even overheard a girl call one of my dogs a “pug”.
What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
I have used Maximum Bully for a few years. However, I recently switched to Victor Professional a few months ago, while supplementing with Dyne and Ultra 24 Goats Milk.
What is your favorite bloodline?
I don’t know if I have one specific bloodline that is my favorite. I appreciate a well structured, proportionate, and functional bull.
Do you currently show, any of your dogs?
At this time, I do not currently show any dogs.
What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?
My advice would be to do your homework. Don’t try to skimp to save a few bucks. You get what you pay for. However, not all of these $5k+ dogs are what breeders claim them to be. When you do your research, look at past productions. Another big one is invest in a quality female, a stud is nothing unless you have a good foundation bitch.
What do you think, is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
In my opinion, it would be the initial hump of getting started. There’s a lot of waiting and time sensitive things that need to be taken care of. However, I also think that these backyard breeders, who are just breeding low quality bulls to make money, are a problem as well.
How do you think they can overcome this thing?
By investing wisely and being patient. Once again, educate yourselves and do research. As for the second part, I’d say the bully community can overcome this problem by educating other people who are interested in the breed. This will make sure that the next generation will have less low quality breeders.
Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
One of the main people I look up to is Markus from TheeBullyCo. He always has very useful information. Markus is very well educated in all aspects of the bully breed. Breeding, showing, whelping, training, etc. Literally everything! I love how he also posts YouTube videos for people to educate themselves on any subject when it comes to bulls.
Tell us about one of Grayline Bullies main goals for the year 2019.
Grayline Bullies’ goal is always to produce nice quality bulls. We focus on great temperament. Not only do they have to meet breed standards physically, but they need to have the family friendly, courageous, and all around great companions.
Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.
I would like the bully community to be more like an actual community. There’s a lot of breeders out there who don’t want to help newcomers, or just other breeders in general. Most breeders are afraid that they’ll get out produced. I’d also like to see more people receive the correct information about the breed.
What separates Grayline Bullies from the competition?
One of the things I’d say that separates us is that we’re a smaller family breeder. So we have more time to spend with our dogs one-on-one, as opposed to some kennels that have 10-20 dogs that don’t get as much face time. Our dogs stay in the house, not in kennels outdoors. We are constantly taking our bulls with us to events, shopping, or even just to go work them in public so they’re well socialized.
What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
Well, first is my daughters. They’re number one. However, I also enjoy photography very much, and I am a big car enthusiast. I’ve had my 2003 Volkswagen GTI for about 4 years now, and have put a good chunk of about $15k into her. She’s my baby.
What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?
I find Bully Girl Magazine very informative, not only to the American Bully, but also to multiple other bully breeds. The magazine also features good quality bulls, and the kennels they came from as well.
