Who is Q4 Kennels?
State your name, and where your kennel is located.
My name is Jerkeith Horton and my kennel, Q4 Kennels, is located in Richwood, Texas.
What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
I breed American and Exotic Bullies.
What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
I usually keep my dogs on a nice kibble diet. Sometimes I feed them raw chicken or Bil-Jac (meat).
What is your favorite bloodline?
My favorite bloodline as of now is Miagi and Bullseye. I also have a bit of WCG & Razors Edge, which I like to keep in my yard to balance the correction of my bullies.
Do you currently show, any of your dogs?
As of now, I do not show my dogs. Hopefully soon I will produce a nice bully that I would be very confident about putting in the ring.
What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?
The best advice I can give an upcoming breeder is to do lots of research before going out to buy.
What do you think, is the most difficult thing for people in the bullygame to overcome?
To me one of the most difficult things is having a single registration for the entire bully community, whether its American Bully or Exotic.
How do you think they can overcome this thing?
Simply put all the silly differences to the side and join together.
Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
For me different people bring different things to the table that I incorporate into my program. But coming into the game, I’ve always respected and watched D1 Kennels & Carolina Bully Farms.
Tell us about one of Q4 Kennels most memorable moments, in 2017 so far.
My most memorable moments, were simply producing 2 nice litters that I loved. Also, being able to sell out to other families, that were also happy with my productions.
Describe how you would want things, in the bully Community, to be 10 years from now.
I would like to see a lot more togetherness. To survive in the dog world, this is necessary. Also, I would like too see less shows, but bigger shows when they happen.
What separates Q4 Kennels from the competition?
What seperates my kennel is simply, ME. I pride myself and carry my name on morals and principles. Most of all, I strive to make sure that I am always doing great business.
What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
As of lately, the focus has been on coaching both of my kids. I am coaching them both in basketball, and my son in football.
What motto do you live by?
Failure is not an option.
What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?
I love Bully Girl Magazine and what it stands for in the bully community. I’ve personally watched every YouTube episode that they have put out. Since I’ve started messing around with these bullies, i’ve been watching them. I’m very honored to be doing this Interview.
