Top Gun Bullies: American Bully Breeder | Florida

Top Gun Bullies

State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.
We are Stephanie Jara and Josef Wilcinski, who is my equal partner. Our kennel name is Top Gun Bullies. You can find us in Davie, Florida.

What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
We breed Standard, XL, and Pocket American Bullies. My Family bred American Pit Bull Terriers and Bull Terriers, throughout my entire childhood. I left home at age 17. I purchased my first American Bully in 2005 for $2,000. It was a solid blue, XL, Juan Gotti grandson. He was produced by Mike Padilla. Upon viewing this dog in person, I had no idea what an American Bully was, or how my life would change after that point. However, I knew that I had instantly fallen in love with the breed, and this was more than just a dog.

What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
We feed a high grade, high protein, dry kibble throughout the year. We supplement this with raw beef and chicken.

What is your favorite bloodline?
Our favorite bloodline is Razor’s Edge.

Top Gun BulliesDoes Top Gun Bullies currently show any dogs?
We’re just getting back into the mix of things now, and catching up with the times. Two of our original show dogs, from when we were formerly M.I.A Bullies, are retired. We are in the midst of coming back into the Bully World with two new up and comers in our new program. One of which we do plan on showing very soon.

What advice does Top Gun Bullies have for any upcoming breeders?
This is not a hobby, this is a lifestyle. This should be about the love and passion for the dogs themselves. The ultimate goal should be to better the breed.

What do you think, is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
We believe it is patience to create their own legitimate production. This does not happen overnigh or by chance. This does not happen by simply breeding two good looking dogs. There are too many people out here nowadays buying a beautiful bully and immediately name claiming, instead of paying respect to the producer/breeder/kennel where credit is due. That is where the real blood, sweat, and tears were put in.

How do you think they can overcome this thing?
Put the breed, knowledge, and genetic research before dollar signs. Know what you are buying into. Also, know what you plan on doing with it to better the breed. Be responsible and treat it with respect.

Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
I have met and am friends with many well known and respected bully breeders in the game. I am grateful to have met such amazing individuals that share the same passion as I do. Also, I am fortunate for having previously been an Elite Edge member at the age of 18. This really gave me that extra push to go after my passion for the breed and become an actual breeder. For that I would like to thank Mike Gallo from Devils Den Bullies.

Tell us about one of Top Gun Bullies main goals for the year 2018.
Our goal for 2018 is to rebuild on our new name. Also, we would like to layout a solid foundation for our new program and participate a lot more in the confirmation showing aspect of the Bully World.

Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.
I would like to see the breed publicized more as the sweet, loving, protective, family dogs that they are. I want the American Bully to be recognized as their own breed worldwide, to regular people who are not involved in the Bully world. Also, I would also like to see more responsible and knowledgeable breeders.

What separates Top Gun Bullies from the competition?
We believe in quality over quantity. We only want to produce clean, correct, well balanced, healthy, legitimate bullies. Even if that means harder work, along with more money and time invested.

What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
We love cars, guns, and sports.

What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?
I think it’s nice to see a magazine catered to acknowledging the dog women, breeders, and enthusiasts of the bully world, that most times may go unnoticed and/or unappreciated.
