State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.
My name is Tiara Roddy, founder of Black Urban Frenchies. You can find us in Hanford, California.
What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
Previously, I bred Dogue de Bordeaux’s for about 2 years, which was an amazing breed. However, I always wanted a French Bulldog. So, I traded two of my Bordeaux puppies for my first Frenchie. After that, I was hooked!
In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?
Responsible breeders put their dogs first by breeding for health and structure. Responsible breeders are always willing to learn new thing about the breed, and they back up their kennel 100 percent.
What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
I don’t really do much of a diet. I just feed my dogs kibble, apples and bananas here and there.
What is your favorite bloodline?
My two favorite bloodlines are Firefield and Grinchblood. Both bloodlines are amazing in their own way.
Do you currently show any of your dogs?
Not at the moment. I’m still waiting to produce my foundation male and female. Once I get my foundation male and female, I will be showing for sure!
What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?
You lose more money than you make. Always have a vision on what you want for your kennel, as far as what kind of dogs you want to produce or buy. Also, always put money aside for vet bills.
What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
Trying to produce something that noone has already produced.
How do you think they can overcome this thing?
By doing lots of research. Know your bloodlines, have a vision and stick to it.
Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
To be honest, I’m not really looking up to anyone. I learn so many things from different breeders everyday.
Tell us about one of your main goals for the year 2019.
For 2020 my plans are to make a name for Black Urban Frenchies. I want to produce nothing but healthy, structurally sound dogs for people all around the world. Eventually, I want to be able to give back to families in need.
Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.
I would love to see people be more helpful to one another. We are all in the same business. We don’t need to be in competition with each other.
What separates your kennel from the competition?
With Black Urban Frenchies, the difference is we are not trying to be in competition with anyone. I just want to produce healthy puppies and make families happy, without charging them an arm and a leg.
What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
I do logos on the computer, and I also love painting when I have the free time.
What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?
I think Bully Girl Magazine is great! Bully Girl helps the bully community, especially the upcoming breeders, learn new information about the bully breed.
